Just a little question to you all out there. In games what do you fnd to be just big bullet sponges or just a total waste of ammo when you see them?
For me i would say the giant radscorpion from FO3 right now since ive been playing it again recently, The ammount of shots it can take sometimes just feels like a waste, sometimes i will just break its legs and walk away its not worth it.

That's nothing.

Try Super Mutant Overlords, Ghoul Reavers, and Albino Radscorpions, those are the real bullet sponges.

Hell, even one Reaver takes at least two Mini Nukes directly before dying.

Grunts from Halo. When I was playing the Reach campaign, if I was anywhere near a Grunt they were taking the butt of a gun to the face. Or the back of the head. From the same game, any high ranking Elite when playing on Legendary. Even if I got several successive head shots, those shields would not let them die. Other than that, every boss besides the final boss in Borderlands took an ungodly amount of ammo to kill.

Spots in games where the enemies are on unlimited respawn, but you have a limited supply of ammo. Games like CoD World at War on Veteran. That was just a waste of time. I really doubt that the Nazis had a good 200,000 well-armed soldiers in that last damn building.

every enemy i face, they are not worthy to be shot by me and my impecible skill.
Really, alot of enemies i come across tend to not die unless i get really annoyed and get in close but the worst is the elites on Halo reach when playing Legendary All Skulls On (LASO, the only way i have ever managed to kill them like this is by assassination and thats a ***** to pull off in a gunfight

I'm going to have to go for would be the MAWLR in Killzone 3. How many bullets and rockets can that bloody thing soak up??? Even when you "kill" it, it still won't go down for the count, and one wrong step sees you obliterated by its' petruscite cannons.

On a different but related note of wasting ammo, am I the only person who, during an in-game sequence when an NPC is dragged away/eaten/captured by the enemy side, still pumps bullets at them so I don't feel guilty about just standing by?

Also from Fallout 3, the special version of Super Mutants from the Broken Steel expansion were unnacceptably tough. I can remember pumping clip after clip straight into their faces and they just keep coming at you. I can't remember the heirarchy of the Super Mutants and can't be bothered to look it up, but I ran across some of those Broken Steel Super Mutants that were tougher than the 5 Giant Super Mutants that you had to fight in the regular version of the game.

Come to think of it, all the units that the Broken Steel DLC added were pretty bullet spongey now that we get into it. The Feral Ghoul versions that were added were just as bad as well as the Albino RadScorps.

Of course these are minor complaints in all honesty as the game was still brilliant and it had the best suite of DLC ever produced and it should be the industry standard as far as content added and story elements (maybe not in stability upon release though... ooooh sick burn). So it was all worked out in the end. But yeah, if we're talking about bullet soaking thickies then Fallout 3 takes the cake, eats it, and keeps the plate the cake came on.

the Tank from L4D. its pretty much its purpose. that and the Heavy and the Scout from TF2. the Heavy can obviously take the most damage, and the Scout is just a ***** to shoot when he's running around.

Any kind of armoured police assault vehicle in any open-world crime game. Fuckers absorb bullets like they're made of solid Polycarbide (cookie for reference).

Roboscorpions in Old World Blues at about Level 40. I wasn't even a melee character but using the proton axe is much better than trying to shoot them.

Everything in old world blues. I brought a gatling laser and with 100 energy weapons skill I thought it would be a breeze, until everything had 6 million HP and my tickle-laser became useless.

Earth defence force insect armageddon's mini bosses. For the bosses, I understand. It's a bosses job to be a bullet sponge, but the tick-dispensing spiders, and the mantises, they take a huge amount of shots to kill considering sometimes you will get two or even three popping up in one level. Good thing the ammo's unlimited. As it is, I don't really mind.

FUCKING. HATE. REAVERS.

Super fast, super powerful at close range, has long-range radiation-based attacks, and are absolute shits to kill. I had the Weapon Mod Kits mod, had a modified Combat Shotgun with and Extended Magazine and Autofire Mechanism, and those bastards still took too many shots from a fully automatic shotgun.

Overlords are severely underrated enemies, when those bastards wield the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle they rape you hard, and they probably have more health than a Behemoth.

Robo-scorpions in Old World Blues. In fact, most things in Old world blues. The reason I was actually able to get the melee weapons/unarmed achievements. Proton axes were better than unloading any gun.
Also, Giant Radscorpions, Super Mutant Masters, Ghoul Reavers, and all the guys from the Point Lookout DLC.

Many higher enemies from Fallout 3. Super Mutant Overlord's. Feral Ghoul Reaver's, the such. That's all I can think up right now, but I'll edit stuff in later.
