The Bioshock movie will be rubbish. Everyone involved is from Hollywood B-movies and has a long resume of half-assed productions, so expect the usual computer game adaptation botcheroo. They might as well just throw in the towel and give it to Uwe Boll, at least then it would be funny and crap instead of just mediocre and boring.

yes.

OT: I hate movies now, they ruin books and games. The movie industry is like the infectious retard of the entertainment business.

*Sigh*

I wish they'd just stop. Maybe try and think a little instead of just ruining everyone else's parade.

Chances are they are going to set it in the present day or do something else to shorten the movie length and completely ruin or stuff up the plot.

Only a few movies such as LOTR have successfully condensed a such a large plot.

The Bourne movies did no justice to the originals. For example in "The Borne Supremacy" novel Marie does not die rather she is kidnapped in Japan if I remember correctly. Film makers have many compromises to make when adapting stories from other mediums on to the big screen.

noone sews your eyes open and straps you to a chair and makes you watch the movie.

You shouldn't care.. But you do, and it's because you still WISH that they'd make another good book/game adaptation.. But they won't if they don't keep trying.

Bioshock could be a great movie. Probably won't be that great to people who sleep with a Big Daddy action figure, but it could be great regardless.

Your logic is so flawed your in danger of being labeled a retard.
I watched ONE video game movie, and that was Doom, and it was awful. I don't watch them because I know they're bad.
What I really want is for Hollywood make a good movie, NOT based on something that's already been made.

You guys are idiots in my opinion maybe you should look more into the movie, like look at what the writer (John Logan) has done: Sweeny Todd, Gladiator and the last samurai. And the director has done 28 weeks later which was also awesome and if you look at that, you can already picutre a kick ass movie, plus the fact that it's bioshock. Remember, that not every videogame movie made is horrible. It could turn out to be quite good and if it doesn't, I still believe that if you're a fan of the bioshock game/s(Soon) you'll appreciate the movie.

No, Your logic is flawed.
You watched ONE, ONE! There are a lot more than one of them.
I'm not saying it's a venture fraught with success, but there is potential.
Though yes, Hollywood has very little originality

Fight Club. Bad book, great film!

Besides, I found Bioshock to be a rather boring game.

Just because I only watched one doesn't mean I didn't give others the benefit of the doubt. But I'll never make the same mistake I did all those years ago and pay money to see them. Instead, I let other morons do it, and when I noticed all of the bad reviews I kind of noticed a pattern.
I can't think of a single movie based on a video game that turned out good.

I can't either, but that doesn't mean that every movie based on a game will be bad, and it doesn't mean this one will be bad.
Odd's aren't good, but personally i think done right, a Bioshock movie could be pretty great actually.
I wouldn't shell out cash for a movie if i didn't know whether it was supposed to be good or not, that's a given.

Actually, the motivation behind making video game-based movies is purely for economic purposes - Hollywood has plenty of ideas, and I guarantee you places like Los Angelas are FILLED with young, enthusiastic writers who have fantastic ideas; it's just the Hollywood corporate machine is a greedy and hollow one, and innovation or originality to them is more or less the scariest fucking thing EVER - what Hollywood wants is things that will make MONEY. Lots and lots of it. And what makes money? The indestructable video games industry, an industry that has been making more money than Hollywood for many years now.

They ran out of ideas a long time ago...
yep especially horror movies. They are now making another remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. Hurray for incompetence! :D
I think Silent Hill is one of the best thriller/horror movies I've ever seen. When I saw it, I didn't even know it was based on a game. I never played Bioshock and if the trailer is good, then I'll definitely watch it. A movie doesn't have to be bad just because it was based on the story behind a game.

For everyone who is bagging the movie industry, and speaking as a (hopefully) aspiring writer, the publishing industry may be in current proportions SOLELY because the movie industry is so interested in making books into films. Like some smart guy said, EVERYTHING begins with an author. Publishing books, on the contrary to popular belief, doesn't make a huge deal of money - what I understood is that most of them attempt to get enough out of it to cover costs of printing books & having editors etc. Of course, you have to think of what will sell, but that's a different story.

Ok, I'm annoyed at all these movies, but I'm also grateful for them, because I think about all those authors that may have had their chance of being published because there are assets for such books.

... I don't know what this had to do with gaming, but I think it's at least slightly on topic!

I don't know I wish they would just create a movie based off of the setting of Rapture, and not the events, after all an epic war between Andrew Ryan and Frank Fontaine as Rapture is slowly destroyed would be pretty good and easy to pull off, especially if you had it star Atlas, and have it end with Rapture being completely screwed over. That would be fun and would explain a lot of the events of the first game to those thickies who didn't pick up every audio log. After all the original game played so well off of the attitudes and conceptions of most gamers, the characters lied and deceived you, it brought to question the concept of choice something most gamers don't really think about, by choice I mean "Why am I doing this?" not "Should I blow up the orphanage or feed the hungry." So it wouldn't work as well on a movie, but if they handled it differently it could have made a fantastic movie.

REJECTED!

Read Mario Puzo's "The Godfather" and try again.
So true. I think everyone should give them the benefit of the doubt. Bioshock is awesome and a well written and well made movie may also become awesome. The story of Bioshock is also that of which you can make a movie about, I've seen movies with worse plot than Bioshock might have in a movie adaption.
