BioWare Brings a Costume Contest to YouTube

BioWare is holding a YouTube "costume contest" and you don't have to be a resident of the United States to take part.

People love contests. What they don't love is the way so many of them make residence in the U.S. a condition of entry. The reasons for that are many and complex but the net result is simple: it's a pain in the ass. Fortunately, BioWare's got your back on this one.

GamesCom [] is coming but it's in Germany and with the price of gas what it is these days, most of us just can't afford the bus ticket to get there. So BioWare is bringing the action online by way of YouTube, where fans are invited to show off their best BioWare costumes.

The rules are simple: the costume can belong to any character from any BioWare game, with the only restriction being that entries must be "safe for TV." First place is a $500 gift certificate from the BioWare store and a Mass Effect hoodie signed by the development team; second place is a $250 gift certificate and a figurine signed by BioWare founders Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Dr. Ray Muzyka; and third place is a $100 GC and a lithograph signed by whoever happens to be walking by when they stick it in the envelope.

Other prizes will be awarded for innovation, best group, "fan favorite" and other categories, presumably selected at BioWare's discretion and whim. Submissions will be accepted until 12 pm EST on August 20 and best of all, it doesn't matter where you live - if you've got a webcam and some internet to spare, you can get in on the action. Full details are available on YouTube []. Now dress up and dance!

Fuck yeah! Now I can finally make use of my ME costume that took 1 year of planning and 3 additional months of construction!

... I actually don't have any such thing. A heads up would had been pleasant for these kind of events. But oh well.
