Cautiously optimistic as many others. Here's hoping no ME3 style shenanigans take place.

On a side note: I'd be really happy if they allowed me to alter the build of my characters. Having a 120 lbs. bikini model wearing Dragonbone plate and swinging a 12 lbs. sword in one hand while holding a tower shield in the other is just ridiculous.

I have more faith in Project Eternity, a game that only exists on paper right now, than I do in this product.

It's impossible to enjoy an EA product anymore with how much they force you to confront their business practices. There's no immersion when NPC's start selling you DLC within the confines of the story, or when Marilyn Manson is used to promote your game, or when you're forced to consider day one DLC content that was ripped from the core of the game, or when you're forced to interact with things outside of the game (facebook, multiplayer, aps, merchandise-tied DLC, pre-order bonus's) in order to experience the actual game in full, etc, etc, etc.

It doesn't matter what "Bioware" has learned from these last few releases; EA are still equally at fault and they clearly haven't learned a thing.

To all the naysayers who are complaining about Mass Effect. The DA team is different from the ME team, and they have a significantly smaller audience. Chill your tits.

BioWare Confirms Dragon Age III: Inquisition

According to the rumor, Dragon Age III will be subtitled Inquisition and take place in the land of Orlais, where the Templars have turned away from the Chantry, mages are rebelling and the world hovers on the edge of chaos.
Sounds like the status quo, when isn't the dragon age world hovering on the edge of chaos?

"a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization." The studio doesn't want to talk too much about the game until it's got something to show, Darrah explained, so everything else is hush-hush right now.
Statements that include that have somewhat lost the ability to peak my interest of late.

Agree to disagree. I found pretty much every change they made to Origins in making DA2 a change for the worse.

The dialogue wheel is always bad, because it obfuscates what the character is actually saying. All you know is a three word, often misleading, summary and how much of an asshole Hawke/Shepard was going to be when they said it.
If they have to keep that awful system in, I'd rather it be like Deus Ex: Human Revolutions, in that the short summary expands into what you're actually going to say when you highlight the option. And I liked Hawke less simply because he was voiced. His voice actor sounded unlikable regardless of inflection. Give me the Grey Warden any day.
One of the things i really liked about DA:2 was the fact that Hawke was voiced and I thought the dialogue wheel was fairly straightforward, rarely did Hawke say something I wasn't expecting, but then I got very used to the dialogue wheel in ME and think it really adds to a game. I have replayed Origins a number of times and it never fails to annoy me how emotionless the Warden is, no matter what race or gender they are they have the same blank face and don't seem to be affected by whats going on. Hawke at least seems to care (if you choose the diplomatic dialogue options) or at least reactions emotionally to situations. I also liked that Hawke's dialogue in cut scenes change depending on what personality Hawke has, so if you play through once as a Diplomatic Hawke and then again as a Charming/Sarcastic Hawke then you'll hear different lines. I think that is a great touch.

As for the voice acting, I never played male Hawke, but the voice acting for female Hawke was great, I really felt Hawkes personality in her voice, but then I also think Female Shepards voice actor, Jennifer Hale is better then Male Sheps.
The Female voice actor for Hawke was much better. I did not like DA 2 but I cannot fault most of the voice acting. Play the opening as a male Hawke and you will hear how bad it is.

And as for Mass Effect I found the male sheps dialog to be painfull. Jennifer Hale did a great job in Mass Effect but male shep is some of the worst I have ever heard. At least to me. It is worst when he is shouting or doing a dramatic speach like the one on Rannok if you pick the Paragon option.

First thing that came to mind when I saw what the game was called:
This is awesomeness at its finest. Thank you :)

OT: DA3 is doomed to fail. Bioware's cycle of mediocre RPGs has repeated itself more times than we can fathom (uhm... 3). Mass Effect 3 was not the first. It did not create the trend of mediocre story telling. Mediocre story telling is the legacy of EA... etc

YES!!! DA2 was way too small for my liking.

Don't care, did you just say that to please your whip handlers?

Always a good thing

and more customization."
This is another thing that DA2 lacked, let's hope they keep their promises. And of course keep that Bioware magic flowing by delivering great characters.
When I read all of this, my initial take was 'Well, you want to do better than DA2. What a high -fucking- bar you've set for yourself, Bioware.' I'm still embittered by ME3, and by DA2. I expect another watered-down piece of crap, but I'm open to the idea that it might redeem the series. Maybe. Prolly not.

I have to say, its a skeptical wait and see. First was great, second was horribad, third might be average maybe?

And no, DA2 wasnt good, because, ya know, "good" games sales die damn quick when people start to play it and how horrible it is is revealed right?

I cant wait to see this little gem updated.

As one of those numbers who bought both I'm not making the same mistake and pre-ordering Dragon Age 3. I'll waint till a Steam sale... I mean Origin sale... You know what screw this, one of my Kickstarter RPG's would have matured by then and while it might not have 'better visuals' it will be a damm sight better than the dross that was DA2.

I personally liked DA2 to be honest. Of course it was nothing like what they promised, having major design flaws and being generally linear and small for an RPG, but for the price I paid for it, it was a pretty good game. I still don't think it deserved a five star rating though.

I will withhold judgement, until I actually have something to judge.
But I'm still a fan of the setting, so I'm happy to hear this.

Disliking DA2 made me a homophobe
Disliking ME3 made me entitled
Disliking TOR made me a whiner and a troll.

I'm looking forward to see what new buzzword EA will unveil for this game.
Personally, I don't see why anyone would have a problem with you for not having any fun playing those games.

... So why is it then...

Fanboyism in its purest form:the games have widespread loathing and negative criticism, but they're really super special awesome and people are just knit-picking so they're opinions are wrong. No blind-faith praising of SWTOR while you're at it?
Also, LAAAAAAAAWL at people who actually think Dragon Age 2 was good. You need to either have extremely low standards or DA2 is your first game ever.
You can disagree all you want, but that doesnt change the fact DA2 was a steaming pile of horse manure, and ME3 finally made me appreciate The End of Evangelion.
...that so many have a problem with me liking them?

Bigger world and more customization? You mean more than 2, because that's basically just DA:O.

But that's still a good thing. If this game is only AS good as Origins (Which I admit is no small feat) I'm enough of a fan of the first game that I'd be okay with that.

Nevertheless, even though I think DA:II did a lot of things wrong, and is a shadow of Origins, I think it was the best kind of failure; it tried a lot of new things, some of the ideas behind it were really good, and I hope all the negative feedback doesn't cause BioWare to lose sight of that

Stuff like the cross class combos, the departure from standard structure, the conflict between Templars and Mages, and the war with the Qunari, I thought, were really interesting ideas that deserved more than to be overlooked and one act a piece respectively. I would love to see those things in a game that isn't burdened by the corny writing and one dimensional characters that sunk the second one.

BioWare, just learn from your mistakes. Take the time to listen not only to what everyone is saying, but to look into the more detailed opinions on your games.

Remember why Origins worked but don't pretend it was perfect, remember why DA:II didn't work but don't just scrap the whole thing.

Remember your roots but don't let them hold you back.

..which brings to mind the question, what the fuck were they doing for half of that time when they were already failing at the first sequel?
