Three Shepards for me. And all three of them have played through ME1, too.

1. Soldier, male, paragon
2. Adept, female, renegade
3. Infiltrator, female, paragon

All my crews love me, my ships upgraded and everyone lives. My renegade character kept the ship, just as she let the Destiny Ascension get destroyed in the first game - I enjoy experiencing the differences in playthrough from different options.

Soldier is ok - it's a good all-round class - but adept is definitely the most fun for me. The only problem is that sometimes when you throw someone off a ledge they get stuck and you have to reload... :(

Odd, because I sent Grunt off on the escort mission, Jacob was taking on the boss with me and Tali, and nobody, not even Mordin, died. I even got the "everybody nods and smiles at Shepard while we fix the ship" ending.

Maybe it's because I upgraded everyone's tech in addition to the loyalty missions? Maybe I stumbled across some other winning roster? Maybe there's only a percentage chance of him dying and I was lucky? Maybe my game's got a very fortunate bug?

Because I'm thumbing through a few walkthroughs for the first time and, by all rights, the consensus says Mordin should have died.
The upgrading of everyone helps a lot. The final mission survival requirements are wack so I'm not surprised you made it. Now you can play future DLC and ME3 with a full team! Assuming ME3 doesn't mess with your roster, of course.

Ah, you know it will.

Samara- job is done, so she is no longer under any obligation to Shepard.
Miranda/Jacob- Could well be hunted by Cerberus (Shep only gets off the hook because s/he is still the main hope for Reaper destruction) and have to run off.
Thane- Too sick/dies.

Those are the only four I can cover at the moment, I'm too dizzy to go into everyone x.x I can only see Tali and Archangel sticking on, simply for the sake of familiarity. All that said, if I am right, I will forgive Bioware as long as they include a hanar squadmate and/or keep Legion around.

Usually play as FemShep...because I just like being a badass chick more than being a badass dude. Only MaleShep was for Ashley and he's an Adept.

Always customize. DefaultShep wasn't that attractive to me so I had to bribe my brother to make me a proper Man I could handle looking at. He worked a miracle.

Usually roll as the technical side (Inflitrator/Engineer), except for my Soldier turn Vanguard....because I find soldiers a bit played out I guess.

Never save the base. After ME1, I don't see TIM as anything more than a racist with money and one successful project and even that nearly failed. Can't trust him to handle that kind of tech properly.

Always upgrade my ship, always save everyone because I'm a perfectionist and I hate people dying. I was highly upset when Mordin decided to die the first time, so I re-did it.

Usually had Jack, Grunt, Zaeed, Legion, or Tali.
And most of my characters are straight Paragons, except for my Renegon FemShep. She's bipolar.

If I can help it....I never take Garrus with me. Dies too easily and enjoys running into the enemy far too often. >.> Although he did get better from ME1.

In my experience it was everyone but Miranda that was saved. Not that I'm concerned, only thing she was good for was DAT ASS.

I played femshep, and I'm not surprised that a lot of people didn't upgrade the Normandy. The planet surveying was VERY boring, and whichever clever arse decided you needed a button pressed ALL the time whilst scanning can get beaten with a wet, smelly haddock.

One of my fingers officially hates whoever that person is.

I lost Tali, and one other char - can't remember if it was Garrus or Krios.

Im surprised that people lost crew on the final mission. Of course I am a bit obsessive when it comes to content so I mined the hell out of the universe and got every upgrade my first playthrough. I was a femshep even though I am a guy and I loved screwing over TIM in the end. I also have a male vanguard Shepard who made a hell of a lot of bad decisions and is just there because I got ME2 on the 360 first, and because all of my original crew became psychopaths in the two years I was gone, I stayed true to Liara (she got less psychotic after Lair of the Shadow Broker) .

I am really sick of the gaming industry ignoring me because I'm female. I enjoy Call of Duty: Black Ops (when it works) but why cant there be a female skin for multiplayer me?

The reason that you find this a male dominated market is because no one cares to include us. We are your sisters, girlfriends and wives. And yet we are left out?

Its bad enough that they had to go and "officially" make Revan a guy. (rolls-eyes)

Now Shepard as well? That's total BS.

...and they wonder why they can't tap into the "female market"

Time to drop the Sears catalog, wash your hands and maybe comb your hair and come out of the basement into the real world where we are fighting alongside you in combat zones and some of us are actually showing that we can keep up. If nothing is done the nerd population's birth rate will remain low at this rate.

82% play as male Shepard, 18% as female Shepard

I flat out refuse to believe this. I don't know what their motivation is for making it up, but it's made up.

Now that is funny, talk about a sadistic sob I wonder if TIM will ever meet a human like that one. Might shake his faith in humanity lol.

As one dedicate FemShep player to another... calm down ._. The default male Shepard has ALWAYS been the one used for ads/etc (for god's sake, I have him on a shirt), and the statistics are just saying most people play as MaleShep. It doesn't matter- Mass Effect canon is how your own game is played. And again, I highly doubt Bioware would get rid of the FemShep option, or give her an extremely sub-standard quality of play. And if this ties into movies/whatever... well, I agree. If they want to make a movie involving Shepard, they should stick with the majority rule if they want to make money. I don't exactly like it, but it's completely understandable and makes sense. It's not something to get worked up over, treat it like you would someone else's game- just as valid as your own.

The reason games still have mostly male characters is because it's still mostly guys playing the game, putting all the extra time and resources into making a female option when it's unlikely to be used as much is just poor marketing strategy. And what does gender have to do with enjoying a game? I'd love Portal just as much even if it was a male protagonist, or Bioshock if it had a female one. I'd still hate FFX if it had a female lead. If you can only enjoy a game because you're playing as your own sex, you are a sad, strange little person. And you have my pity.

This is just the statistics of players. Blame them, not the people who made the game.

Most players are male, so I doubt that many created a female Shepard given there is little difference except love interests, it's not like New Vegas for example.

On the other hand, I can't play a male Shepard, sorry guys :D

Yep. As stated earlier, the only massive differences are love interests and some minor dialogue changes. And who honestly thinks Bioware will scrap/half-ass FemShep after two full games based on this?

Show of hands, anyone?

I'm not surprised about the ship if Bioware was including the Scar-B-Gone 10000 with the rest of the upgrades. That thing did... close to nothing, right? If it was only 2000 whatzits, more people might have bought it.

I played as male. It makes more sense to me, I am a guy after all. And I have no interest in being a girl.

Imagine if 40k space marines were females, it wouldnt sell.

In all fairness this "renegade" choice was actually the smart thing to do. Just saying I usually go good but destroying the ship instead of studying the weapons to better fight the reapers was a stupid move not a good one.

Female Shepard (hate male Shepard's voice) and didn't customize
Renegade
Adept
Got all of the crew loyal
Listened to every last bit of dialogue
Only Thane died during the mission (on the first run)
I got every upgrade
