I made an interesting discovery today.

I was on x360a [www.xbox360achievements.org] a few minutes ago trying to find the "optimal" path for completing your teammates' personal missions when I cam across a thread talking about custom Sheps. Turns out, most people prefer to use default John for one of two reasons: either a) they feel obligated to the developers to use the default model "that's been so carefully crafted fir us", or b) they don't have the patience to fine-tune the assorted sliders.

I say fuck all that. I will happily spend another 3 or so hours playing with the sliders to make sure my character is one I can truly call mine. Did it with the first ME, did it in Dragon Age, hell, I even did it non-BioWare games like SR2 and Fallout 3. The developers gave me a chance to "create my own, special, unique character". Goddamn right I'm gonna take advantage of the option.

Well, speaking as a manly man with heterosexual urges and strong amounts of testosterone pumping throughout my body, I am proud to say that the main hero in my Mass Effect games is a black woman by the name of Alaina Shepard. She is almost exclusively a caring paragon with a couple of exceptions for those who disrespect her.

She acutally came to me in June 2007 when I heard that the first game was being pushed back to November. I sat around and looked at my shelf of Xbox games and noticed the little known Vietnam-era first person shooter "Men of Valor". I remembered the main character there was named Dean Shepard an made her as his great-great-great-great granddaughter.

I do also have a secondary character that is more of the typical blonde haired, blue eyed, rugged white man called Nathan Shepard (named after Nathan Petrelli from "Heroes"). He's a no nonsense badass renegade that won't hesitate to kill someone who deserves it, but will come out on the paragon side on the very big decisions. His is more of a "what if" storyline. If you want to link him to something, I guess you can link his family to the Shepards of "Silent Hill."

"Ah, you know it will.

Samara- job is done, so she is no longer under any obligation to Shepard.
Miranda/Jacob- Could well be hunted by Cerberus (Shep only gets off the hook because s/he is still the main hope for Reaper destruction) and have to run off.
Thane- Too sick/dies.

Those are the only four I can cover at the moment, I'm too dizzy to go into everyone x.x I can only see Tali and Archangel sticking on, simply for the sake of familiarity. All that said, if I am right, I will forgive Bioware as long as they include a hanar squadmate and/or keep Legion around."

Mordin- gets to old and dies/or becomes a support character like joker or chakwas. Seriously what's up with their lifespan?

if all the worlds are under attack at the opening any crew member could threaten to leave. "The turrians need us shepard we have to help them!" "No we should meet up with the migrant fleet, from their we can launch a counter attack" "This unit does not have enough information to make an informed decision"

I think shepard should have to pass a speech check to make a decision/not lose people. people who have played the old games start off with enough clought to actually choose their route. My first moves would bring the quarians and geth into the fray (seems like shepard would be able to)then we rescue the turians and earth for their fleets. cure the krogen genophage, find the rachni, and continue to wipe the reapers out/rescue people and maybe we have a chance. How many times did the reapers find united forces to wipe out? Still kinda seems like an uphill battle, but hey that's what makes it epic.

P.S. Oh and I thought it was kinda weird that you thought Sumara would leave. Shepard "well I'm off to save the universe" Sumara "sounds like a worthy and honerable goal...see ya, nice knowing you." Shep "WTF?"
