Yes because an open universe with a myriad of alien species, only two of which having females, makes perfect sense.

Though, I suppose ME already has the aesthetic of a generic Sci-fi MMO, so why the hell not.
Wait a minute? only 2 species have females?

Last time I check

Asari were female
Krogan have females
Quarians have females
Drell have females
Salarians have females
Turians have females

and we have no reason to suspect that there are no females of some of the other races simply because they aren't featured in the game or mentioned in the Codex.

My Two Cents: BioWare should focus on making sure TOR doesn't wind up in the MMO graveyard along with all the other games that've been brutally murdered by WoW. The only way i'll even consider paying a monthly fee to play a game is if Old Republic turns out to be absolutely stellar, or Star Trek Online improves significantly. (seriously guys, loose the cartoon ships already)

i am not really familiar with MMO's, but i am with anything mass effect. so if my idea of what an MMO does to people is accurate, a mass effect MMO will be the end of my life.

I would play a Mako-racing game. I love driving around in the Mako, even if mountain planets are intensely difficult to navigate. Plus it can jump; that's awesome.
I don't get it. Why do a Mako racing game if we could have a Hammerhead racing game? It could even be a Mass Effect Kart game.

An MMO?...maybe, would wait to see more details, and certainly waiting till a little after release.

CoD-like MP based Mass Effect? Maybe, but I would prefer to hear of a Battlefront-like MP based Mass Effect. The possibilities....

Slow down, Bioware. Keep entirely focused on making sure ME3 is a damn good game then once the dust settles in 2012, we can talk new directions for the ME universe.

I would have much preferred to see a Mass Effect MMO than The Old Republic. The Mass Effect universe is simply much more interesting than the Star Wars one, and it makes less use of Handwavium too. However, I don't think Bioware could do two MMOs at the same time and keep up any kind of quality. We've already seen what happens when Bioware are rushed and spread too thin, we get crap like Dragon Age 2. With this in mind I think they should just concentrate on single-player games in the ME universe.

Just please, Bioware,

But for fuck's sake Bioware, put less fucking dialouge! Yes I know an immersive RPG should be heavily story-based, but when I'm sucking up to the chick in my party 80% of the time I play, with the rest evenly divided between walking and fighting, the game needs mroe combat!
don't do this! ME2 went a bit too combat-heavy, which is why it became known as Gears of Mass Effect. Dialogue and character have always been Bioware's strengths, and that's what they should concentrate on with just enough combat to keep everything moving along. There are plenty of combat-heavy games being released all the time, don't do that to Mass Effect too.

The only way I see this happening is if Knights does somewhat well, otherwise I dont see Bioware hopping into another expensive MMO project so soon if the current one (expensively) flops.

i wouldn't mind it but i am utterly sick to death of these "pay per month" deals that every mmo is based on (and being australian, i usually get the "pay 2 months for 1 month"). i would be far happier with a "one time payment" (guild wars style) or "micro transaction", otherwise i will not be playing as i have done with so many mmo's in the past.

Human
Turian
Quarian
Drell
Krogan
Salarian
Asari (if you count them all being female, or at least looking female)

And those are just the main races. I have to ask: have you actually played any of the Mass Effect games? If you have, you might want to give them another run and spend more time talking with your various squadmates. There are a hell of a lot more than two species that have females.

Forgot about the Quarians actually, slip of mind.

That being said have you seen a Krogan, Drell, Salarian, or Turian woman in any of the games? Have you seen any females of the lesser important races; Elcor? Batarians? Vorcha? Volus?

Of course not.

I fully realize they "have" females, but I chose to make a comment insinuating at the fact that none have actually appeared in the games -- I suppose next time I'll spell that sort of thing out.

I played Mass Effect as Commander Shepard, a man that went against all odds and brought together a small team of elite soldiers, each more interesting than the last.

Except the taurian. He was the best, and you got him close to the beginning. But I digress.

I played as this stalwart captain, the man that fought against death itself, defeated the Geth, and tried to overcome his crippling disability of only being able to control two companions at a time. The single man that would take the fight to the enemies, and would not only be victorious, but will do it with style.

In other words, I played as a hero.

I do not want to play as a random person in the universe. I want to be the warrior. I don't want to have to group up with a tank and healer to be competent. I want to be the savior. I don't want to collect fifty people to take down a boss. If my comrades go down, I want to take them on myself.

In other words, I want to be the hero.

And that's why single player is really the only way to go, eh?
Yes. Very well said.

Except I wasn't the hero. I stared in the face of death, then shot him. Then laughed. Then punched someone in the face.

And I wouldn't be able to do that in an MMO. So I'm going to have to go with, "Please don't, Bioware. Please don't."

Eeeaaarrrgg!

"Go forth mighty spectre #8862951 and find me 40 Korgan testicles. Reward: 75 cr, 200 XP. Do you accept this quest: Yes/No"

No thanks.

But y'know what? So long as they make ME3 awesome, I don't mind what they do to the property after that. Once the story of Shepard and the gang is over, I will be free to completely ignore any travesties that follow.

I play Mass effect because it is an RPG not an MMO. I'm in it for the story bra! MMO's got lame stories last I checked.

Ya know what I would prefer more? Mass Effect the televisions NO WAIT DON'T LEAVE! I mean. it's got all the chops to go primtime what with everything they put in it. With any luck it could be like the best of next generation.

So, in other words, exactly opposite of what Blizzard did with WoW. Which still annoys me sometimes. Though to be fair, Mass Effect is planned to be a trilogy - it's not going to continue forever, and an MMO seems to be a decent way to keep using the world while not continuing the main franchise. After all, anything other than the main trilogy likely won't have Shepard, and you'll never be better than Commander Shepard!
It just seems to me like they've gone through so much effort to establish this epic galaxy setting that it would be a waste to not have more games take place in it. Plus you didn't play as Master Chief in Halo Reach and that was the only game in the Halo series I actually liked (to an extent), so just because it's not Shepard doesn't mean you can't do some cool stuff.

Know what they should do? A Mass Effect game where you play as Wrex. It takes place during his days as a mercenary, before humans were even on the galactic scene. Admit it, that game would be awesome.

It's hard to say. Technically almost all Bioware games have well-enough fleshed out lore and worlds for MMOs. Bioware is also known for its' deep characters and character choices. So in my opinion this constitutes two problems for any Bioware game based MMO. The first is that they must ardently make canonical choices, something Bioware fans do not generally approve of. The second is that most MMOs, while having good overarching stories, have issues showing/providing characters (Most WoW characters are somewhat interesting but this is not shown/delivered well in-game, unlike Bioware characters) and as such they would need to set a Bioware MMO in a time frame in which their characters don't show up to do their characters honour.

With Mass Effect this means raids would be next to impossible. The game would have to be setup so that the Reapers have already been dispatched or are a non-issue. They could maybe make some Geth Raids, maybe a Batarian raid, but in general they would need to conjure random enemies from nowhere to really pull it off.

If done well though, I'd buy it.
