A good thing I say. Dragon Age 2 is kind of a lost cause, and I know Bioware can do so much better than they did with it. I hope they keep the good elements of DA2 but also avoid the critical flaws it had.

So I guess this means a 'extended edition' of DA2 will be coming out soon, with the DLC.

Woohoo?

All they gotta do in DA3 is try and tell ONE story, instead of 20 in act 1, finish the game in act 2, and start something completely different in act 3. I could have lived with the copypaste dungeons and stupidly actiony combat if the story wasn't schizophrenic. Also, don't forget the HK47/Shale this time.

Even though I loved DA2, I'm actually happy about this news. If it means they'll be able to do substantial work on DA3 now and get it out in solid form, I have no issue at all with scrapping an expansion.

Just wait, all the choices you had made in the previous 2 Dragon Age games is going to influence the outcome of the third game in the series where you get to choose between what color armor you'll be wearing when the main baddie shoves a 4 foot pike up your bum.

If I had to guess at which plot point's they'll ignore in this one (if ME3's conclusion is any indication) I'd have to guess almost all of them. The method they accomplish this in DA seems to be by throwing you to the ass end of the planet with each installment so your decisions can't overlap.

Whereas in ME they just opt to reset all your choices at the ending, thus skirting have to address them all! Isn't that keen!

Chris Priestly, a BioWare community coordinator. "We're excited to hear what you have to say!"
Yeah after the ME3 Ending debacle, I bet the largest portion of the bioware staff dreams of wringing the neck of every little fanboy until they feel thorax being crushed, and capilaries pop internally as the last little ember of life leaves their pasty faces.

OT:

Im actually torn on this point. For one, DA2s story was miserable. Basically it is the story of the rise to power of a city councilman.

However.... the story had a great deal of potential to be expanded upon. I almost feel that was what Bioware was trying to do was shift the focus away from the warden in Origins onto Hawke as the main protagonist of the series almost as if DA2 was actually the first installment of another trilogy.

At the End of DA2 I had envisioned DA3 being a story that brought the warden from Origins into the story line with Hawke and Hawke continuing to gain power and influence across all the lands as he becomes almost as notable as the warden who ended the blight. That could mean the warden would be a part of Hawkes new party or it could mean that Hawke & the warden could be adversaries and Hawke is charged with pursuing the Warden.

So in a way even though I greatly disliked DA2, and truly disliked the Story of it, It seems that Bioware was actually taking this in the right direction had this too not turned into another situation where the fans will end up screwing something up because they lack vision and foresight to see that bioware had more plans than just that single installment.

So bioware, maybe its time you STOPPED listening to the fans, because really nothing good ever comes from listening to sheeple.

Bummer. I was really looking forward to something good, like Legacy, after the blandness of the Mark of the Assassin one. While the gameplay of DA2 was lacking, the narrative was still really amazing. I'd have loved to get more of it.

Dammit, I actually liked Dragon Age 2, I was looking forward to seeing the next expansion.

Well, one can hope the lessons they learned during DA2 will lead to DA3 being better, and one can hope that they don't saddle you with playing as just a human again.

Oh, that's too bad. Granted, Dragon Age II had some rough spots, but I enjoyed it. And the two expansion packs proved that the team was listening to the critics because they both poked fun at the game itself, and gave us new exciting adventures. I would have liked to see if they pulled everything together for the expansion pack. Still, I had a feeling this might happen. II seemed to fall off the radar when it came to DLC, where Origin was still getting stuff many months later. Not a good sign.

Based on the title, my guess is that it would have been going after the Quenari (unlikely), or a war against some Tevintar wanna-be mages now that the Circles have all broken. I would have liked to see that, and have it end with the Veil being destroyed. That would have been the perfect set up for Dragon Age III.

If they listened to fans, we wouldn't of had the travesty of an ending that was Mass Effect 3, or the horrid departure of practically everything from Dragon Age 1 to Dragon Age 2.
Honestly, after a few weeks on the Bioware Social forums, I can honestly say that ignoring a good portion of their fanbase really is their best option. You do NOT want to know how many endings would've involved naked TIMs and Shepards of either gender with Cerberus being regarded as the best thing ever in the galaxy.

Renegades are f***ing CRAZY man!

Exalted march story would of went like this :

The mages and templars are escalating out of control in kirkwall! you must pick one side in the war even when the most logical thing to do would be to revolt against BOTH of them, and be backstabbed by the faction of your choice so you can fight bosses on both sides regardless of what you do for them.

In DA3, you must either take the side of the drug trade murdering innocent people in the streets or the corrupt government to make them richer in the same street in kirkwall for the whole game. However, the street can be modified to have carts or even stalls now and then for EXTRA CONTENT!. You HAVE NO CHOICE you absolutely MUST pick either corrupt faction and dance for them like a puppet for 30+ hours of your life otherwise don't buy the damn game!

Mages templars mages templars Mages templars mages templars and oh did I mention there would be mages and templars? are you sick of hearing those 2 words yet? too bad! Mages templars mages templars
I sense much anger in you

OT: Well, I was wondering when I'd hear about this. Either way. Can't say I'm really shocked, mind you. I'm wondering where this would have gone...

I probably would have bought it, depends on the price of course. (And if I can still find my copy of DA2).

Also, I think people are getting a bit sick of the BioWare hate now, can't you guys move into something else, at least until they announce DA3.

In all seriousness, I would like to see them bring back the best parts of Dragon Age: Origins and Neverwinter Nights and maybe Baulder's Gate and stick them in DA3.

Bioware, I would be more then happy to invest money into Dragon Age 3...however, i require that you do a few things before i do:

1. Have Kirkwall be burnt to the fucking ground with no chance of us stepping foot in that terrible terrible place again. Honestly, i don't think Kirkwall was that important to the Dragon Age Universe, so i really don't see it burning down as a big loss.

2. Give it an ending where our choices actually matter...y'know, like in Dragon Age Origins. We don't want a repeat of your...ahem..more recent Endings.

3. Give us more then the same 5 area's to adventure in..that would be great.

4. In linking to point 2. Have our choices actually mean something if we import them. Honestly, i think we can all agree Origin/awakening's choices had about bugger and all impact on Dragon Age 2 so...yeah.

5. Give us a third Option: Yes, i get mages and Templars are gonna be a major part of this whole third game but...as we've seen, there have been moments both sides are just as terrible as each-other so, give us the option to 'take a third road' if we have to rather then forcing us into one of two sides.

Fulfill all five of those things, and i'll be on board.

I've never paid more than a passing interest in the Dragon Age series, but didn't the last expansion come out a while ago? Meaning that the team has been been working on this new expansion for quite a ong time time (well I'm presuming they were working rather than just swinging off the lights)?

If so then cancelling several months worth of work seems... odd. Especially expansion work which rarely involves engine improvements that can be utilised in a new game.

considering that DA2 was basically Bioware converting their fans into cash, I will really be interested in seeing how DA3 turns out.. hopefully its a sequel to origins, and not DA2.
seriously, look at these pictures, and tell me this isnt bioware just saying "screw it, dragon age is done, liquidate the fans and move on"

and 27 additional "addons" (ie gear, skins and sidequests)

What the bugger...ya'd think somethin' that's a 'sequel' would either keep the same looks/graphics or improve on 'em. But that...those deals are much better lookin' in Origins. Especially the Emissary. Wow does the DA2 Emissary seem ridiculous compared side-by-side to the Origins one. That's sorta sad when combined with some of the other deals I've heard.

I'll be watchin' what they might do with an upcomin' Dragon Age, but I'm cautious. I didn't buy DA2 because of it strayin' so much from Origins, so if it keeps to similar route with combat and such I won't be very interested. So we'll see...given, I didn't buy ME3 either. So who knows!
