Sadly we've been told (via gameinformer) that you are a former resident of Lothering, so not only is your race, name and backstory made up for you, its a bit bland. Also the first Wardens (not to be confused with The First Warden, who is the leader of the Gray) all died killing Dumat (the first Archdeamon). So I doubt they would make an entire game were the end is allready known.Souplex said:Does this mean they're going to force us to play as a human? Playing as a human in a fantasy RPG is like choosing accountant for your class. I want to be a dwarf damn it! Or at least a Quinari.
Also: I noticed they didn't say which blight Hawke was a refugee from. Maybe this guy ends up being the first Warden Commander.
Still; I'd rather play as Paragon Aeducan if they're doing that part of the timeline.
Hey, that one time, the oversized goon with a propensity for violence was a skinny robot...Andy Chalk said:In other words, it'll follow the standard BioWare [http://www.bioware.com] formula pretty much to the letter, which means you can also expect a romance option with a troubled, reluctant sexpot, an oversized goon with a propensity for violence and a cheerful sidekick whose light-hearted wisecracking masks a deep, dark secret.

Shortly after Mass Effect 1 if I'm not mistaken. They had Dragon Age "in the works" for quite a long time and they even did a lot of the preliminary work in the Aurora engine (the one that powers Neverwinter Nights and the Witcher). After Mass Effect, Bioware was purchased by EA and sometime around then all this activity started. Hell, they're big enough to have an office in Austin Texas when they are based (if my knowledge of geography is correct) somewhere a few miles south of Santa's Workshop.Bigeyez said:So something just hit me. When the hell did Bioware become so massive that they can simultaneously work on whats possibly the largest (in terms of development size not the game itself) and expensive MMO ever created, Mass Effect 3, AND Dragon Age 2, not to mention whatever secret projects they might be working on that we don't know about??
Absolutely. I can't help but notice that not only is BioWare going the cheap route with the story by having someone else resolve the likeliest threads to end up in the sequel, but they're changing things about the first that were much loved, to the point where members of the fanbase are accusing them of trying to please ME fans.FargoDog said:Am I the only one who thinks this sounds bloody horrible? Why aren't they doing what they did with ME2 and allowing you to cross characters over, that was brilliant and worked extremely well. There's so many loose threads at the end of my playthrough, I want to find out what happened, not play as some stupid refugee I couldn't give a damn about.
I am so sick of these plots. Really. I cant stand being the single most important person in a game world, or saving it from certain doom. The pressure is just...too much!Andy Chalk said:Players will take on the role of Hawke, a refugee from the Blight who becomes "the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age."
