Black Ops 2 "Revolution" DLC Unofficially Revealed

Early promotional posters detail downloadable content for CoD: Black Ops 2, including the first weapon DLC for the series.

Several images are making the rounds revealing that DLC is inbound for Black Ops 2 to ring in the New Year. A number of Twitter users have posted images of unofficially announced promotional material for "Revolution", the first DLC pack for the first-person shooter.

"Revolution" appears to feature a number of new maps named "Hydro", "Grind", "Downhill", and "Mirage". A zombie-themed map titled "Die Rise" is also thrown into the mix, and there's also going to be a bonus weapon called the "Peacekeeper SMG". It looks like the DLC will be available January 29th.

Twitter user @RaptorClaw141 [https://twitter.com/RaptorClaw141/status/285513865188491264/], one of the photographers, reported that the store's manager wasn't told to hold off displaying the promotional material until a certain date.

If these photos are the real deal, the DLC will be the first to feature additional weapons for the game series. Infinity Ward Executive Producer Mark Rubin stated on his own Twitter account last year that Modern Warfare 3 was unable to handle additional weapons due to RAM limitations. Perhaps Treyarch managed to find a way around the issue.

No official announcements have been made for the new content just yet.

This might be the first time I'm completely uninterested in new maps for a game, I've just been unhappy with the game since Nuketown 24/7 became special event only. BOPs2's multiplayer has become boring, since it has pretty much devolved into a game of laser sight hip-fire hero.

Assuming the weapons are either free or cosmetic, it looks like the usual deal from Treyarch, 4 MP plus 1 Zombie maps.
Which, once again, is kind of screwing over Zombie-players. But if the new Zombie-map is like Green Run, then it might be worth it anyway. If it is, I gonna buy it just for that.

I don't buy that comment about new guns and RAM. It's bull.
Not all guns in the game are being rendered at all times. If a gun isn't being used, it isn't being rendered. For example, if no-one in a match is using a crossbow, why would it still take up RAM?

Ok, I was one of the poor shmucks who bought HORSE ARMOUR and even I think this is stupid DLC. The game's broken enough, this is just pouring salt on the wound.

Because they loaded it into active memory anyways so that it does not take even an eighth of a second to load if someone decides to use a crossbow. It's a question of speed. For example Google saves the entire internet in memory, twice over. This isn't at all efficient in terms of server usage, it's not at all necessary, but it's also what allows google to do this: "About 838,000,000 results (0.17 seconds)"

That being said, Treyarch programmers are bad at their jobs. They make those crappy - we're making a movie anyways so lets make a game at the same time and it will sell itself - type of videogames; and they leech off of Infinity Ward projects using work mostly already completed to create inferior products. So I really wouldn't expect much out of them.

Seems like an odd trade-off. I'm willing to let a gun texture take an extra point of a second to load if it means we get more content.

I will still never understand why people continue to buy map packs for 15$ a pop when these should be released free to the consumers that bought the game.Oh yeah,I know,it's Activision the milking #1 company of the world.

With that said, although I have purchased Black Ops 2 I have no interest in any extra map packs whatsoever.I've been trying to get diamond camo on the weapons just for the heck of it(finished with SMG/Shotguns rather early) and working my way to finishing Assault Rifles.

The people using SMG's with Laser Sight and spraying are out of control, alongside the overpowered pistols that need around 2 bullets to get you killed.

Not fun at all.

I honestly can't say I really even care about Call of Duty anymore. I sold MW3 like 2 months after release and vowed never to buy another CoD game again. At least until they have a true over haul of EVERYTHING and make it special. I don't feel like playing the exact same game with (Generic Bad Guy) trying to do the (Generic Evil Plot) in which I'm ordered to stop. However when I get there shit hits the fan and something gets blown up.

That or until the multiplayer actually becomes fun again. Which I probably have a better chance of finding a living, breathing Pokemon than that...
