Black Ops: Annihilation Hits Xbox 360 Later This Month

Annihilation, the third content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops [http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Black-Ops-Xbox-360/dp/B003JVKHEQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308238490&sr=8-1], comes to the Xbox 360 later this month.

The new Black Ops map pack is only a couple of weeks away - can you guess what's inside? If you said four maps and some zombies, you're right! Okay, so there's not really much to see here, but this is what we're paid to do so let's get on with it. Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation will include four "exciting and unique multiplayer" maps called "Hangar 18," "Drive-In," "Silo" and "Hazard." But wait! There's more!

"Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience, 'Shangri-La,' an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters," said Mark Lamia, the big cheese at Black Ops studio Treyarch. What this all-new experience will bring to the party is a closely guarded secret at this point but you can bet that the legions of the undead will, somehow, be involved.

Also a "secret," sort of, is pricing, but since the previous two map packs, First Strike and Escalation, sell for around $15 each, I think it's a safe bet that Annihilation will clock in somewhere around that mark too. And if you think that 15 bucks for four multiplayer maps and some zombies is a tad ridiculous, consider this: Activision said that Call of Duty: Black Ops has already generated the highest-selling add-on content in Xbox Live history. So the next time you find yourself wondering why, that's why.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation comes out on June 28 for the Xbox 360. PC and PlayStation 3 versions will follow at some point in the future.

I'm gonna hate myself for buying this. Two more map packs and I've already paid the price of the game again.

The maps in DLC are usually of better quality than the default ones.

You could at least try a little harder to feign enthusiasm, Andy. The Activision/CoD bashing was a little too obvious.

"Offender of the Faith" is right.

I pretty much decided fuck any content that comes out for Black Ops at this point, I'll be getting MW3 with how much my friends are bugging me about it, and it seems like these map packs are just getting worse, at least on the multiplayer portion, Call of the Dead was awesome though.

I would like Black Ops a lot more if the maps weren't designed to be a complete clusterfuck of being shot from behind and random spawning. The sense of being killed from behind by an enemy who just happened there by accident is the pinnacle of bad multiplayer design, as player location becomes something dictated not by players but by random chance. Especially when the game is built on having next to no health and instant kill melee/grenades/snipers/anything coupled with perfect accuracy. The whole COD level design team needs a slap to wake them up and realize noone likes running around hoping to randomly happen across a person and then engage in a game of "who has the Galil?"

Wow this one came out pretty fast, it usually takes a few months. Still going to buy because I love my zombies!

Wow, all this money earned on cheaply-made multiplayer maps, maybe they'll put a decent single-player game out for CoD.

Andy gave this news in the exact tone it deserved. $15 (AU$22) is a tad ridiculous.

Also, I'm absolutely dying to know what this "innovative gameplay" is. Do we get to shoot zombies with guns? Because that would just blow my mind...

Whats the bet that the "Hangar 18" map will look significantly less badass than what i'm imagining...

Also woo zombies... Again...Fucks sake. I never thought i'd say this but this game has proven that there can be such a thing as too many zombies

Time to get pressured into buying this by my friends again.

At least we've we've agreed to not buy MW3, small victories and all that

(groan)Not another one... I've only just finished deciding that I'm not going to buy random-over-priced-map-pack-for-Black-Ops number two. Please slow down, my brain doesn't work that quickly.

They should sell the zombies maps separately. I already have enough multiplayer maps, but I can never get enough zombies.

Unless these come out as some sort of bundle on Steam during summer for a total of ?15 or less I am not buying a single map pack. I even think ?15 for the 3 packs is a bit much.

Well I thought the last map pack was the best so far, so hopefully it can only get better; right?
yeah same, I loved the zombie map, and some of the multiplayer maps as well. So I might be tempted to buy this DLC as well.

Unless the Hangar 18 map allows you to play like the members of Megadeth, I'll skip this one.
Now if they let you beat zombies to death with various instruments while playing as Marty Friedman, I would be interested.

Lies, Lies and Slander.
It should be 'Lies, Lies and Libel', which is a good use of alliteration. Slander is word of mouth, libel is written. I have Law knowledge, your argument is invalid.

However, I am looking forward to this map pack!

"More challenging zombie maps?"

Really? Maybe they should start thinking about the people who suck at the game. I have yet to get passed wave ten.

Anyways, I'm gonna pass on this one (for the first time ever in a CoD game, go me). I'm really burnt out on CoD. I haven't played for a while and I don't miss it at all.
