BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Trailer Rocks Your Ears Off

There might not be much overtly new content in this BlazBlue: Continuum Shift [http://www.amazon.com/BlazBlue-Continuum-Shift-Playstation-3/dp/B003EV6NEE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1278969527&sr=1-1] trailer, but it sure has some really awesome music.

The above trailer for the console release of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift - the updated version of last year's superb original release [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/6240-Review-BlazBlue-Calamity-Trigger] - is, like the game, very heavy on style. Anime characters face off in hyper-energetic action sequences, strike cool poses, and generally look badass.

Unlike the game, though, it's a bit short on substance. There are a few new anime sequences, but most of it seems to be taken from the BlazBlue opening movie, orbital bombardment of the Earth and all. The latter half of the trailer features some gameplay footage, but it's pretty indistinguishable from the original game unless you've a very pro-oriented eye. At the very end we get a very, very brief glimpse of brand-new character μ-12, though, so that's something.

But the new music is as badass as ever: What Hideo Kojima is to overwrought cutscenes, Daisuke Ishiwatari is to awesome hard-rock soundtracks, and Continuum Shift is no different if this trailer is any judge. No wonder the first game won our Best Original Soundtrack of the Year [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/op-ed/7270-The-Escapist-Awards-2009-Winners-Announcement.3] award, huh?

Ohhhoooohohohho man.
that was great.

Iv only been able to play the Original BB for a little bit but it was absolutely wonderful.
The Music, Voices, and animation fit so well with the Characters and Style.

But, what else is to be expected from Daisuke Ishiwatari?

>.< Hope this isn't going to be a full $59.99 game, I just paid $40 for the first BlazBlue ...

Try close to $60 (though I did search for the Limited Edition online), and seconded.

On topic, sweet holy hell that song's awesome, even by BlazBlue standards. I hope it's on the US soundtrack unlike Ao Iconoclast (seriously, I was firmly disappointed to learn that it wasn't on there).

Only 13 more days before the original gets released in Europe, yet now I'm hoping this gets thrown our way too... someday.

I guess it's a good thing I haven't bought the original, then, though I never did for reasons unrelated to this. I just couldn't get into Guilty Gear, and this looked to be too similar.

seems like there was a bit of gameplay for Hazama (that black shadow with the clown smile that makes Rachel´s butler go "POPPYCOCK") as well.

while the games are kinda similar (mainly because their developed by the same people), its much more casual, yet it still has a very deep combat system unique to each character.

Heh, I got continuum shift already, the new HUD looks a lot better and the new characters aint too bad. I play it on my PC a lot since I got it and it's oh so pretty. I'm a very happy camper today too because I just got Balzblue for the PSP, and it's equally as good as it's console counter part. Although I do hope that continuum shift becomes a DLC of some sort, minor rebalances, a reworked HUD, and 3 new characters is EASY to work into DLC so they better not pull a street fighter.

*crosses fingers for continuum shift DLC for PSP*

Oh Gods!! The first forty seconds or of that video took me on an acid flash back to Dynasty Warriors. I feel I must now grab a stick and kill a thousand zombie clones....

After playing it in the Arcade I have to say that they've made just enough changes to warrant a purchase from me. Tsubaki is my new secondary and Hakumen is still my main.

You mean this? [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEZb63893ec]

Seriously, if it's been in a soundtrack, you can probably find it on Youtube. I know it's not the same as actually HAVING a copy, but still.

Id agree about the first song (not that bad)... the second... well its generic Jpop. Nothing interesting or good there.

Best fighting game I've played in years, maybe since glory days of Street Fighter II, just so much fun with friends.

So, this is a SE edition that I'll have to fork out another 60 dollars to get or will added content also be offered as DLC similar to how RE5 handled it?

On the soundtrack, it was great, got it with my pre-order of the game last year. Worth it.
