Blizzard Puts Up StarCraft II Beta Forums
Evidence that the long-awaited StarCraft II [http://www.amazon.com/Starcraft-II-Wings-Liberty-Pc/dp/B000ZKA0J6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1278964580&sr=1-1] beta is finally upon us keeps mounting higher and higher - the beta test in question now has official discussion forums.
Damn you, Blizzard. Every time I think to myself, "Okay, I'm not going to get excited this time, I'm just going to sit back and relax and wait until we actually get concrete information," something new comes out teasing what is probably the single most anticipated beta test (not even a full game release, mind you) of all time... and I fall for it. Every single time.
Months and months of teasing and delays may finally be coming to an end: A few weeks ago, the Jace Hall Show Season 3 trailer official Blizzard forums [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/97777-Blizzard-Devs-Celebrate-StarCraft-II-Beta] (listed at the bottom of the index in question).
Clicking on that link brings us to a clearly unfinished forum index page [http://forums.battle.net/index.html?sid=5010] that appears to use the copy from the WoW forums as a placeholder. Still, WoW text aside, the little "StarCraft II Beta - English (EU)" in the drop-down menu in the corner and the actual forums themselves are a dead giveaway.
It's possible that the page was accidentally made live when it shouldn't have been, much like the rumored System Requirements [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/97882-Dont-Meet-the-StarCraft-II-System-Requirements-UPDATE] that eventually turned out to be a mistake. Even so, its existence is a positive thing for everyone who's been waiting for this game since its announcement in 2007.
If there is an announcement, it's likely to come tomorrow (February 10th) at the Activision-Blizzard financial conference call - Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime announced the SC2 would be delayed at its equivalent last August, so it's not like we haven't gotten release date information at these things before.
We can only hope. Really, really, hope. I think I speak for everyone involved when I say: "Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaaaaaaaase?"
