Would this explain why Cata sucked....

Perhaps that wish it success so "Titan" (should SWTOR last that long) have a fair foe...?
It would be a good plan. Leave Cata at a state where people don't want to leave there friends but where there looking for something new. Let SWTOR bring more people into the type of game(MMO) and then Bring out Titan there( best fucking thing ever!!!!!!!...that we know nothing about but we know it will be good..and its a new IP with good lore...because thats blizzards thing. And bam suck everyone back up from ToR who got bored of it and people from cata and the new people that are comming in.

Yes because there best expansion by far "sucked"

Overall it would be good for the MMO market if TOR was a huge success.

How many years has WoW been around, exactly? I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard is hoping to use TOR as a way to slowly start letting WoW slide off the top spot. The game had a great run, but it sounds like they're planning to start devoting a lot of time into Titan. Sure, WoW will always be around, but I doubt it'll stay their main focus forever.

By supporting it they don't back themselves into a corner by saying something like "Well they'd never be able to compete with our X,Y, and Z!", otherwise everyone would mock them for losing the top spot down the line (which will happen someday, whether by TOR, some other MMO or their own hand). This way if/when they are dethroned, they can say "We were behind them the whole time! We promise!"

Of course, this is all pure rambling speculation.

WoW is on a steady decline anyway

You do realize people have been exclaiming that ever since the patch where they "massively unbalanced" the different races? Sometimes in late 2004?

This is a far more sensible comment that all the "TOR will beat WoW" wishful thinking that's going around.

I'm only slightly interested in TOR so far as actually wanting to play it, but I dread it tanking because it's so big and so high profile that if it doesn't do well I can't help but feel it would scare off other developers and publishers from that level of investment, and the MMO industry would be overrun by quick buck 'freemium' games.

I dont see how as TOR is not very inovative and is the same old 12 year old dated design.
What are we gonna do? Stand around and press 1,2,3,4 sometimes 6 or 9. At least Guild Wars is making a attempt at some new designs. TOR is just going to be World of Star Wars.

Im actualy more impressed with the designs of Action RPGs anymore like Vindictus, Dragon Nest and Blade and Soul. Those games have a definete lack of content issues but the combat mechanic is much more satisfying as you actualy control blocks, dodges and move sinstead of the game doing it for you in the background while you stand still pressing certain number keys repeatedly.

Isn't this ironic...? EA is doing everything they can to churn out PA in hopes of shutting down WoW, and Blizzard is hoping they meet with some margin of success. Well, whatever the case may be, I think I'll give Old Republic a try. As for WoW...I'm sorry. I can't bring myself to like it. The game wants me to like it, my mind wants me to like it (thanks in part to the skinner box), but I just can't.

That's very smart of them. They were kind of backed into a corner, they had to say something and they couldn't seem petty. While this may be true, TOR will most likely impact WoW negatively and they know it. They're just smart enough not to say it.

I know this is ment to be nice from them, but since they've got the biggest MMO around, shouldn't this almost make Bioware feel more pathetic?

It's like they're the little kid who tries to be strong, and the older stronger kid (Blizzard) tells him to keep going, to perhaps one day they'll meet in a boxing match.

Considerin I've never actually seen any animosity between Blizzard and Bioware, I kinda doubt Blizzard meant it that way or that Bioware would take it that way. The real question is to wonder how EA feels about it since they're the ones bein the jerks in this entire situation. Heck, even Activision hasnt stooped to tryin to take shots at ToR.

Could you please explain to me why Cata sucked? I have been playing it for two months and for me its best time of WoW and I have been playing even before BC so I think I should know. Also last 2-3 years I played only for month or two before I stopped playing again, and now 2 months has passed and I still love it.

I haven't really seen EA "bein jerks" though. Sure, they talk up their game to investors, but that's part of the business. They can't sit there being humble and timid and hope investors will jump on it anyway. They have to convince them their new game is worth spending money on by describing how it improves on existing games (WoW being the biggest by far).

Also, Activision has no reason to publicly talk about TOR or GW2 yet because they're unreleased and unproven. Comparing the two companies in this regard is kind of meaningless right now.
