I will be buying or at the very least renting this game after that statement. That man has earned a great deal of my respect and 5 internets

"If realism doesn't help the game, fuck it, throw it away", if only this worked for every bad element in a game.

Graphics not helping a game? Fuck it throw it away. Lol youd probably end up with a book instead of a game but still i can dream

Someone in the industry is just NOW realizing what gamers have been saying basically since the release of the 360/PS3?

Pretty much, yeah. Too many games have strived for too much realism and fell flat on their faces. I think Grand Theft Auto IV might have been a victim of that. A little bit is okay for a small feeling of familiarity with how things work, but if anything beyond that doesn't work for the game in question...

As was said, "Fuck it".

Besides, exagerated physics behaviour can be hilarious. Say, punching a guy and having him fly off a few city blocks in the opposite direction, Team Rocket style.

He just might have sold me on this game Bodycount of his. That is a great statement and he should be rewarded for it.

Might have been?

That was it's biggest flaw!

GTA has always been good because it's been either totally unrealistic or had a good balance between the two.

GTA4 decided it would try to keep the funny unrealism while making all the controls, mechanics and characters as real as possible and that's how it fucked itself up.

YES!
FINALLY!
THE TRUTH!

If the realism doesn't help....then forget it!

If i wanted realism id go outside.
Sure some games can be fun with Realism but, id rather have a fun game where the main character can fly by using the power of love than a realistic game that makes sense but isn't fun.

Wooo! Black was an awesome sexy gunfest and this should be cool too.

Fuck realism :)
This to the extreme. I'm sure it'll be a load of fun and I can't wait.

Fuck Realism indeed.
The first was labelled as "Gun Porn". What the hell will this game receive as its moniker I wonder?

I think you only really need enough realism to suspend your belief (if a game is supposed to be serious and immersive). Many games don't even need that. Games like Torchlight and Psychonauts have very little realism, but are a lot of fun.

I approve of this opinion. Saints Row 2 was great since the realism was toned down (hell, it was still good after the HORRIFIC porting job. I believe that was done by another group.)

"Fun porn" I'm guessing.

OT: YES! I think he just sold me on his game.

I want the olden days when I could carry a minigun, rocket launcher, chainsaw, and plasma gun all at once and ran at super speed and killed all!

Well. I'm buying this game. And I agree. FUCK REALISM!

Thanks for clarifying; I hadn't played GTAIV myself, so that's why I said "might have been". I was just going on what I'd heard from others, and what other people say can be very unreliable sometimes.

Then again, your cousin calling you every ten minutes sounds annoying no matter how you put it.

Actually, I'm quite enjoying Prototype and InFamous because they're fantastic. (multiple senses of the word)

Where's this realism we're supposed to be fucking? This strikes me as rather like walking into Tehran and boldly proclaiming, 'Fuck Jews!'

Way to be a renegade, Black.

Is this not kind-of-sort-of-definitely what almost every developer seems to be saying, of late, to reduce or stagnate in both graphical quality and depth of gameplay and get praised for it?

I find your ideas intriguing and would like to hand out your literature at the airport.
