Borderlands 2 Is Coming To PS Vita

Borderlands 2 will be shipping on PS Vita in 2014 and will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Sony, Gearbox Software and 2K games delivered a very special announcement at this year's Gamescom for Sony Borderlands fans. Hit co-op shooter Borderlands 2 will be making it's way to Sony's handheld platform, the PS Vita, some time next year. The port is being handled by Iron Galaxy Studios - makers of indie fighting game Divekick, and we be published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

"For the last year, Gearbox Software, 2K, and PlayStation have been inundated with emails, tweets, forum posts and more from passionate gamers across the world pleading for a PS Vita version of Borderlands 2," says Gearbox Software's Product Manager Adam Fletcher in a blog post [http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/08/20/borderlands-2-coming-to-playstation-vita/]. "You spoke, we listened ... we can finally make Borderlands 2 on PS Vita a reality!"

The announcement only specifically mentions the original four vault hunters, the Siren, the Gunzerker, the Commando, and the Assassin, with no mention of the Psycho and the Mechromancer. It looks like, for now at least, the PS Vita version will come sans character DLC.

Borderlands 2 for PS Vita will feature the same four-player co-op that the PC and console versions are famous for. "We want to thank the passionate fans for helping make Borderlands 2 on the PS Vita a reality," says Fletcher, "and we look forward to looting bazillions of guns with you guys on the go."

There's no word on whether the PS Vita version will also feature the "season pass" DLC content from the PC and console versions.

Because year late ports sold so well when released on other systems *cough* Arkham City *cough* Mass Effect 3 *cough cough*
Difference though is that this is a handheld and not a home console. Sure it won't sell as much, but chalk it down as another game that is on the Vita and is made for going on the road, which is okay in my book. Now let's just hope that Gearbox doesn't screw it up.

This almost makes me want to get a Vita, I think it's pretty awesome to be able to play it on the go. Granted Legends offers the same thing, but it's good to get the normal Borderlands experience.

I think it's very likely Gaige and Kreig will be DLC.

I'll defiantly be picking this up, more games on the Vita is always good :)

plus the style of gameplay would actually lend itself to handhelds in this situation

great for people who own vitas

Wait, huh?

How is- But how-

Whaaaaaaaaaaat. This is surprising.

I'm totally okay with this, but I need to see how much it needed to be downgraded in order to be playable. If it still has all of the content of the original version and still looks decent, totes buy right out of the gate. My Vita's been collecting dust after I finished Persona 4 and this looks like it could get back into the game.

Your move, Gearbox. Show me what you can do.

Now, if only, those memory cards would go down in price.

Borderlands 2 has a stupid amount of content.

So... a portable version is incredibly advantageous and tempting, even though I already have it on Steam (with like 45 hours logged).

Probably gonna wind up getting it whenever I wind up getting a Vita.

It's going to be a graphical downgrade, and nothing else, if other Vita ports are anything to go by. Check the comparison between the PS3 and Vita versions of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time [http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18dqthjmjf3qbgif/ku-xlarge.gif] for what you could expect (especially since they're both cel-shaded).

Vita cards hold a maximum of 8GB I guess, and the PC version of Borderlands 2 (with all Season Pass content) is around 9.5GB

Sly Cooper was particularly poorly handled, to be fair...

Seeing as somebody who has, at the moment, just a Vita and a PC, and the PC is kinda old, this is pretty awesome. Borderlands 2 on the Vita is just about the perfect combination.

Apparently they are going down in price. The 32GB ones, while still somewhat expensive, are gonna be like $60. I'm sure the prices will go down more over time as they find cheaper ways to develop it.

I feel like with compressed graphics they will get it under 8 gb.

I'm going to buy this so hard when it comes out. even though due to university, most of the people i play PC games with have been too busy so i haven't even really touched my PC version yet, season pass and all. (I'll be the first to admit I?m pretty good at wasting money)

Imagine how cool it would be to have a loot-chest edition for the vita version in which the chest is actually a vita case. won't happen, but still, that would be neat.

I'll buy this if it's not at full price (I already own it on PC, I don't want to buy it again), but still, great news. If they do a good job porting it and don't fuck it up then that'll be even better.

Still... Atlus, Persona 4: Arena on the Vita? If there's one home console port I want it's that.

Well, since I don't own Borderlands for any platform now, I may buy it. But only if all DLC is included.
