Breaking: Man Sets Fire to GameStop, Arrested After Standoff with Cops
A man who barricaded himself inside a GameStop in California and set fire to the store is now in custody.
At a GameStop in the Roseville Galleria Mall in Roseville, CA, a man allegedly began setting fire to the games. Employees said that the man entered the store holding a rifle and a tank of kerosene. The police were called and the entire mall was evacuated, but the man barricaded himself in and did not give himself up at first. After a short standoff, police arrested a man and he is currently being questioned.
Firefighters are ready to address the fire in the mall, which has spread to the adjoining JC Penney and Sears stores. They are being cautious because there is a full backpack thought to be left by the suspect still in the store and the firemen are awaiting a clear from the explosives experts before proceeding.
Luckily, the fires have been slowed by the emergency sprinklers in the mall.
There is no indication of the suspect's motives and we may not know for several days. According to eyewitnesses, he is not wearing any shoes, and appears to have a anti-theft device on his sweater.
We'll update you as soon as we know more.
