If you're looking for an old-school adventure RPG that's something like Baldur's Gate crossed with King's Quest, then our sister site Addicting Games' Broken Banners may be for you. It's a small, episodic adventure calling back to the grand fantasy tales of Raymond E. Feist, George R.R. Martin and Michael Moorcock. Combining gameplay elements of visual novels, choose-your-own-adventure games and both western and eastern RPGs, Broken Banners aims at providing you with a few hours of solid, unpadded fantasy entertainment.

Broken Banners certainly looks like it's filling an interesting niche, and it's always great to support the "little guys" thinking up interesting ideas with Greenlight.

So if it's George RR Martin esque does that mean Sean Bean will be killed in the first level, everyone is gonna get raped, then killed, then burned alive, then raped a second time then killed for a third time?

We can only hope.

I'd say it's poor form to host advertisements like this, but it's not like it's the first time. Or I even actually care. Seems interesting enough, at least, I do like me some gritty RPGs.

I'd agree on the basis of that statement, but the existence of Darkspawn complicates things, and with magic users being preferential targets for demonic possession, I kind of get the impression that Thedas would better off putting politics aside and making sure the Fade's veil is no longer pierced by nasty transdimensional baddies.

Which is kind of why I like Inquisition the most out of the trilogy, mostly because you're actually putting the boot on the continent's bad political practices and are forcing the locals to actually take the real threat under consideration.

Thing is, RR Martin isn't even really that much of a good example of political or dark fantasy, so I don't get how that would be a selling point. Now, if you told me it was "RA Salvatore-esque" or "like David Eddings wrote a video game" or something like that, I might get excited.

So isn't that like ASoIaF/GoT, except in Westros nobody really seems to give a shit about the impending wight invasion from the north other then those at the wall?
