Bungie: Destiny Expansions Still Aren't Finished

Bungie explains that, contrary to what last weekend's glitch video implied, <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/destiny>Destiny's DLC expansions still need work.

Over the weekend, <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/137705-Destinys-First-Two-DLC-Reportedly-Already-on-The-Disc>an unexpected glitch revealed that Destiny already contained in-game level listings for upcoming DLC content. For some, this raised the question of whether Destiny carried disc-locked DLC, <a href=http://disclockedcontent.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_games_with_on-disc_DLC>a feature which certainly isn't unheard of these days. Bungie has now officially commented on its forums, explaining that while placeholder notes exist in the Director, neither expansion pack is in a finished state.

"We noticed that you noticed that we already have plans for upcoming content packs in Destiny," the forum post reads. "We do! They have activity names (which may or may not change) and we have a really good idea what they're going to contain. They even have placeholder nodes in the Director, as you've already discovered. But neither of the Expansion Packs we've announced are finished.

"People at Bungie are hard at work to complete content for our first post launch pack, 'The Dark Below', as I type these words," the post continues. "It will be finished soon. It releases in December. Soon, we'll detail it out for you so you can see exactly what we've been working on."

Level descriptions exposed in the glitch with a tomb and ancient dark god under the Moon's surface, but otherwise kept largely quiet. Since December isn't that far away, more information should surface very soon.

I thought it was just content they cut from the game and were now shipping as expansions.

Yeah I completely believe that the expansions aren't finished. I mean the game isn't finished, how could the DLC be?

This is true, it's just that...

On top of this, how much you want to bet the "DLC expansions still need work" line was disingenuous? I can almost believe they will take even more time now, just to tell us "hey, there really wasn't that much already on disc!" Whether they actually take the time to do nothing, or give us bonus content as a result of this, I don't know.

However, I find it somewhat amusing that devs don't simply REMOVE such content from the discs themselves. I mean, it is so common for fans to delve through the disc code. One would think that companies would work harder to hide the fact that they are screwing the consumer.

Now, I love me some Destiny despite what critics (including myself) have said about it, but "tombs under the surface of the moon and a dark god within" sounds EXACTLY LIKE WHAT WE ALREADY DID ON THE MOON.

I dunno it sounds like they're elaborating on a previous mission, during which you hear disturbing roaring while crossing a chasm and Dinklebot says " I don't want to know what's down there. " I look forward to finding out.
