My predictions:

The game will suck large animal testicles and Bungie will make a new Halo game to try and hit the jackpot again.

The game will copy the Modern Warfare series and in turn be awesome and Bungie will make a new Halo game to feed off of the newfound hope for the Halo series.
new found hope? this game is probably the most popular series of games, it never strafes to far from the story (with the exception of Halo Wars), it's more recognised than COD let me tell you

and Bungiee will not go down that road my good friend, they are not blood sucking like Activison and Treyarch
More recognized than CoD you say. That must be why Modern Warfare 2 made $550 million in the first five days of being released (and that's just in America) and has become the best selling game ever created. Do you remember perhaps when Bungie said that Halo 3 would be the last Halo game? If anything, Bungie's the bloodsucker. Activision and Treyarch, Treyarch isn't even the big CoD guy here I believe you mean Infinity Ward, the guys who made the GOOD CoD games. And even if they were blood sucking, their games are still amazing. Halo: CE was good. Halo 2 was amazing. Halo 3 was crap. ODST was meh. and Reach looks to have promise, but will probably not save Halo from the plague of prequels and sequels Bungie has been throwing at us.

EDIT: I have more interesting tidbits, MW2 made almost as much in the first day of launch (about 20 million less) as Halo 3 did in the week of it's first launch.
Put the Halo logo on a desk and next to it write COD...which do you think will be more recognised?

And it is the last halo game...of the trilogy, the others are prequels to tell you what happened...which is what their fans asked for, so at least they took the time to explain it to their fans, if that's what the fans want, why should Bungie say no?

Plauge of prequels and sequels? come on it's telling a STORY which i believe gamers complain their isn't enough of these days, i could say the same about Half Life, Metroid, and Final Fantasy. but i wont because apparently they have good story's. so you can hardly complain about that.

i only said my opinion, which everyone is entitled to.

You could just write a book or something, just hire someone who can write well and give him some basic themes and tell him (Her, if she happens to be female) to knock themselves out.

Bungie is indeed good to the fans, which I can respect; but the sequels and prequels are.. Decent at best. And for what it counts, I have met people, both gamers and non-gamers who are more familiar with CoD than Halo.

A game has to be pretty recognized to be the most popular game on the planet. That's common sense there.
I never said COD wasn't popular but don't forget Halo is also just as massively popular. But, popularity is not the same as recognition. You can argue what game is more popular right now or which game is better, that's what debate is for. But that is not the point I was trying to make. There is overlap in the people that recognize Halo and those that recognize COD. And more often than not, non gamers will still recognize Halo over COD. If you believe that overall recognition only accounts for gamers, something most people here are keen on forgetting, you are sorely mistaken. Overall recognition includes those that have never touched a controller, parents, and the general non-gamer.
Gamers have presumably told their non-gamer friends, family and peers about MW2. I know I have, not like I'm advertising, but more like how I got it etc. And most of them had heard about it, those that didn't know now. The point is that CoD is probably just as recognized as Halo by now because Halo has dropped in popularity and CoD has risen. Soared actually.

All I have to say is that I love the idea of an open beta just because I know there will be close to zero game breaking glitches like some other games out there. I say this because Bungie is a worthy developer that deserves respect from the community even though everyone wants to say that it's just fanaticism. Fanaticism would imply staying with a game that is obviously broken which I have done over the last few months.

Bungie have gone down hill after halo 1.
Not really but Halo Reach comes before Halo 1 anyway.
It comes before halo 1 but doesn't mean they've not gone down hill after making halo 1, halo 1 had perfect balance, yeah the most imbalanced weapon was the pistol but EVERYONE started with it.

Halo 2 was dominated by BR and Brute Shots

Halo 3 wasn't bad nor good just really easy to bug and ruin a game with dual maulers or corner camping a shotgun.

Nothing like that was in Halo 1, tl;dr - HALO 1 was the best and always will be.
Whilst I will agree that Halo 3's multiplayer was not that great I feel that it was still the most fun. If you ever played any good custom games (Cat & Mouse, Duck Hunt, Jenga, Conquest, etc with a large group of friends then you would see what I mean.

I really hope that Reach still includes a wide variety of options for custom games. The forge editor is also an essential.
Custom maps and game types are stupid, most of the time it's just 13 year old kids screaming ZOMBIE ZOMBIE AHHHH!!!!.

As for forge, it's just a place to make pictures of boobs... I bet more people have made forge-porn than there are forge maps.
Don't be such a cynic, playing in a custom made forge map can be really great and I've never encountered said "porn maps", it's not LBP, it takes patience and skill to do anything in forge. (AKA, it's a bit tricky with the analogue.)

I'm really excited, but it isn't like perks from MW2 at all, please don't say that, sprinting, camo, etc are not perks, there power ups, stuff halo had before CoD had perks.

But yes, I love this game, I'm just wondering what piece of armour affects armour-abilities, because in the viddoc I noticed he was switching up the helmet, things on the helmet, armour, things on the armour, and shoulders. Also, I checked the concept art for the characters and it looks amazing, Oh God, I love bungie artists...ILU BUNGIEEEE. <333
Halo didn't have a camo or sprinting before COD the only thing it has was a pistol with an invisible scope and COD doesn't have that.

I'm no COD fan, but seriously... you're a terrible fanboy.
Yes, Halo did have camo, it was the blue orbs, and I still don't see them copying MW2, they've been making the game for 16 monthes, think they just decide to change it because of MW2? Please look into Bungie a bit more before you comment.

Also, I'm just trying to be a "fanboy", I'm just expressing my opinions, but thanks for telling me I don't live up to your expctations, I love it when people insult me.

My guess would be that both CoD and Halo (even more so) are quite a way down the list of best selling series.

Does anyone have any idea?

I'm not big on multiplayer, I only play with friends on rare occasions, but I'll be checking out the beta to see how the armor abilities are implemented. Hopefully it's similar to the way they work (or reportedly work) in single player: only one armor ability can be equipped at a time and they have a limited use before they need to recharge. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense for already good players getting even more of an advantage.

Never really was intrested in it to be honest.

Also I dont want to have to buy a not very good game (ODST) to play it.
And yet you were interested enough to click on the thread to make that comment. Wow, someone who doesn't like Halo. Never seen that before; and commenting in a Halo thread at that! Aren't you just a special and unique snowflake? This is noteworthy, seriously; I can think of few things more worthy of note.

Hey everybody! The DSM doesn't like Halo!

Tell you what, I'll post that in every Halo thread from now on just to save you some typing while still getting your very important message out there.

Edit: For those lacking a sense of humor, this message was all in good fun and I harbor no ill-will toward The DSM. I was just poking fun at him for posting at him for posting in a thread about a game he claims to not be interested in and taking a friendly jab at all of the Halo critics who are so vocal about their opinions.

Lighten up.
Well I'm probably the only here who is okay with your mockery. There was really no point for The DSM to post that in this thread.

Anywho, Bungie is pretty awesome. I loved Halo 1 and 2 and I thought 3 was alright. I mainly played it just for the story. I had my days in the Halo 3 multiplayer but those have long passed. I never bought ODST but I did rent it for awhile and thought it was pretty good.

Glad to see they are trying new things in Reach. That's always a plus. I'm sure it will be very good last "hoo-rah" for Bungie and it's Halo series.

Actually I think that MW2 was named the best selling videogame of all time or something like that :p That's just what I heard.

Looking around various websites and it appears that Halo is the best selling game for the 360.

Wii Play and Wii Fit are well ahead of CoD MW 2 as far as sales in a single game go, (no where I looked had it on the top 20)! It also appears to have not shifted quite as many copies as Halo 3 but I am not 100% sure as Halo 3 is just 360 sales and MW2 sales are across the board.

As for what you originally said about CoD as a series/franchises it appears to be around the 32/34/35th rank (different places cite different numbers).

It is all on wikipedia and most other sites had the same or very similar results.

This is the top ten (selling) games of all time. So MW2 isn't first, it's fourth, but all three CoD games made in the last 3 years are on it, with an absence of anything Halo.

http://www.industrygamers.com/news/npds-top-10-best-selling-games-of-all-time/

And these are the top ten games of 2009-2010 by different Judging categories, ODST was only on there once (from what I saw).

http://www.industrygamers.com/news/npd-video-game-and-pc-game-industry-totals-202-billion-in-09/

I am tired, so if my argument made no sense or I misinterpreted what you said and as a result my argument made no sense, I apologize.

Hmm, wait was there a beta key included with ODST? Because I got a second-hand copy from Gamestop, and chances are the previous owner might've eaten it.
The thing, which is like a combination invitation and key, is on the disk, under the Extras menu.

Someone should actually do that experiment with a few iconic gaming figures, although anything with Ms. Pac-Man will probably have that as the top one; barring that it should be a pretty even playing field considering a lot of people got out of gaming in the 8- and 16-bit eras but have fond memories, and as pointed out opinions on more modern properties have yet to settle down, so done over a course of months or more they should pretty much equalize.
