Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is Adding Dragons in Descent DLC

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1332/1332896.jpgAs if zombies aren't bad enough, now Call of Duty is pitting you against fire-breathing dragons.

The next Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC is titled Descent, and it brings four new maps and a continuation of the Origins storyline in Zombies mode.

The official description of the new episode of the Origins storyline contains a surprising addition. It reads, "After escaping the swamps of Zetsubou No Shima, the Origins characters are hurled into a war-torn Stalingrad. Our heroes face their most dangerous enemies yet among the remnants of a battle between giant mechanized soldiers and ferocious dragons."

Yes, dragons.

As you can see in the trailer below, Call of Duty is getting a fire-breathing dragon. The newest Zombies mission is titled "Gorod Krovi," and will require players to not only take on zombies, but to dodge fire from dragons as well.

In addition, the DLC will add four new multiplayer maps:

Empire: A re-imagining of Black Ops II map Raid
Cryogen: A cryogenic prison located in the middle of the Dead Sea
Berserk: A Viking village frozen in time
Rumble: A stadium filled with inactive giant robots

Descent launches on PS4 July 12, with the PC and Xbox One versions to follow later. It will set you back $15 unless you already own the Season Pass.

So how long until they start adding in Werewolves & Vampires?
....
I mean if they're going to go this far they might as well pull a Brutal Legend twist on this & turn CoD into a fantasy game.

Cool that they're adding in a fully sized dragon (Der Eisendrache had dragons you sacrificed Zombies to), me thinks it'll be a strafing type enemy, and perhaps one you can exploit to kill Zombies. I like that they've went balls to the wall fantasy-like since Origins in Zombies (+ Mob of the Dead).

And sigh at Raid. I actually think Raid could work in "Black Ops III", but 50,000,000 matches too many of it on "Black Ops II" make me hesitant to welcome it with open arms like I did the remake of Banzai from "World at War".

The Zombies mode has pretty much been full-fantasy for a while now. Between Demon Dogs, Silent Hill-esque distortion of realities, Lovecraftian-esque monsters, turning into a spirit, literal skeletons with swords, and endless other aspects that have taken it away from the more Sci-Fi leaning depictions in the early games.

Treyarch, why won't you just make an official zombie game now? I hate to say it, but Black Ops III's campaign was kind of "meh", and when I figured out what the story was actually about, it killed any desire I had to go back and play it a second time. That's pretty sad, considering I can finally play the whole thing with friends.

But the zombie mode? I love that mode, and I love the story. Granted, I'm not happy I need three other people to do the Easter Egg for the first map because only one of my friends has the game, but come on. Your launch trailer for this is ONLY about the zombie mode. It's clear where your heart is at now. Just give us the game we all want and the one you guys clearly want to make.

I was going to say the same thing but I couldn't help but get a tiny bit excited about the original crew returning and a map in Stalingrad. That seems almost like returning to zombies roots but then there were dragons. I wish Treyarch was allowed to make the game they wanted to instead of more Call of Duty. They obviously have creativity and skill. I still haven't bought Black Ops 3 and This is not enough to make me buy it.

Yeah, I'm seriously wonder at this point why they don't just make a full on zombies/fantasy game at this point. It's clearly where their interest lies.

I'm starting to get confused, who exactly are they trying to pander to? My guess is starting to go from racist frat guys to 8-13 year-old Minecraft players that like memes, watch pewdiepie, and say dumb words like 'epic'.

....Cod. Just stop. You're embarrassing yourself. Either go modern military or go full balls to the walls space fantasy whatever but don't flip flop between the two, it makes your games an indecisive mess.

....Alright, I did not see that one coming. :I

Seriously, I know they kinda just made the Zombies mode into whatever the hell they pleased but I think it's starting to get out of hand.
Then again, I could imagine this side of things being more "Fun" to work on rather then the same COD military porn they've been making for the past decade...

...Holy shit, it's actually been a decade, hasn't it? I feel old... ._.

...I'll be honest, if this kicks up 'Dragon Mode' in more AAA games, I won't complain. Zombies feels like it's played it's run at this point, lets get medieval on this!

It... doesn't flip flop between the two? The tone of Zombies has been goofy schlock since the second map in 2009. Besides the odd goof map in the multiplayer and an easter egg or two in the campaigns it's not exactly leaked into the other modes.

All Reptiles none the less.

I prefer calling asian "dragons" serpents since they are more snake like.

And a Komodo Dragon is an oversized Salamander imo.

Dragon Bruh! Where've you been all this time?!
But seriously yeah screw how they keep ignoring the front legs and then dare to call it a dragon. What's the appeal of these runts of the dragon family anyways?

We COULD be having massive scale fights that go like Shadow of the Colossus. You know, like what Dragon's Dogma did. I know that MMOs have plenty of ACTUAL dragons but I want to fight a dragon WITHOUT just spamming the number keys like a nihilistic piano player.

But no, we get these little pussy-lizards that are barely the size of a hut that could probably get smashed by every other thing in any game ever.

On Topic: Are they finally going to explain what the hell all these zombie timelines are coming to?

Because in one we've got the original gang of Nikolai, Dempsi, Richtofen and Takeo.

In Origins we've got the same only more time-travelling bullshit.

We've got that prison-break thing where everyone apparently keeps dying unless one specific guy lives.

We've got the one where Sarah Michelle Gellar and a bunch of other people I can't remember were in it.

There was the Poor Man's rendition of the Left 4 Dead group who supposedly died no matter what you did in the "Buried" map but I still don't get what the point of the entire storyline was then.

The one with JFK getting swarmed in the Pentagon though that most likely ended with everyone dying anyways.

There's the Noire setting zombies mode complete with tentacle hentai.

And finally there's that Zombies storyline that's basically just the normal storyline with the levels rearranged, a few new cutscenes, no dialogue besides voiceovers and zombies everywhere instead. Also some shit about the gods of the Universe and how the Black Ops III protagonist (Canonically female in this zombies rendition in case you were curious) is now basically Doomguy, if the ending is anything to go by.

I agree. People tend to get overly critical of COD games in forums, but I just welcome it when it is not taking itself too seriously.

Come on, Treyarch. Next move, make a GATE-like game.
