Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Coming This Christmas

Call of Duty [http://www.activision.com] coin, is scheduled to come out in time for Christmas 2009.

Modern Warfare 2 is being developed by Wedbush Morgan [http://www.infinityward.com/] Securities meeting that the game is "looking incredible" and will be out in time for the holiday season.

"Last year we had probably beaten most expert expectations by growing the Call of Duty franchise over the tremendous success that was the first iteration of Modern Warfare," he said. "For 2009, Modern Warfare is coming back, we expect it will be the most anticipated game of the year. Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season."

"There is no doubt in my mind that it will again raise the bar for the shooter genre," he continued. "The game is looking incredible and Infinity Ward, the studio that is developing it, is just doing an unbelievable job."

He added that despite being criticized for switching the franchise between Infinity Ward and Call of Duty: World at War [http://www.treyarch.com/], the company's strategy of "leap-frogging" is working out quite well, helping Activision draw in better-than-expected profits in its fourth quarter despite the state of the economy.

Is anyone really surprised? CoD games have been coming out November time for the past 3/4 years.

"Leap-frogging" might be working well for them, but it's still a travesty.

Some day the guys at IW will get fed up and leave, and we'll see if Treyarch can keep churning out the titles without having 85% of the work already done. Perhaps that super douch... errr... nice guy, Noah Heller, can program for them.

I dunno... They made one of the most successful games of all time with CoD4, and because it was so amazing, any right minded person will buy the next, and the one after that etc. I think the amount of money to come from the Modern Warfare franchise will urge them to keep on making them, and they will stay on this parallel with IW.

However if they were to go in another direction, I'd definitely follow them away from CoD, as they've proven themselves as incredible developers.

I agree that the Treyarch titles are rubbish, but at least it gives IW the time to make a decent game rather than rushing one out every year.

Maybe with it's release they'll drop the price of Call of Duty:4, I mean seriously full price for a 2 year old game is ridiculous, there are games released only a couple of months ago that I can get for 40 bucks.

I'll probably buy it, but I was really underwhelmed with CoD4. I beat it three months ago and the only thing I really was cool was the online. I felt it didn't live up to the hype, still gonna buy this one tho.
