Can you actually make real creatures on Spore?

I've been wondering, with all the buzz about Spore, can you actually make real creatures?
By real I mean actual animals from earth like apes,whales,giraffes,lions,mice etc etc

I'm also wondering whether or not you can make humans in the game, although it would be sorta akward in the creature phase...

No, the spore creature creator may be able to make cartoonish animals that may look kinda like a real animal buts its not going to look the same.

Naw, it's not really geared for realistic animals. I attempted a ferret, but trying to keep the head from wriggling when it animated was impossible. The spine ran through what should have been a rigid body, its head, causing the skull the deform left and right like a fish. Very odd to see in motion.

However, I did see some dude had created a very realistic-looking helicopter. That has to be one of the best creatures I've seen the game misappropriated for.

I made a gorilla type thing, but if you're asking about photorealistic animals, then no, no matter what you make it generally comes out rather cartoony. Not a bad thing though.

A fair few people with no creativity have made real life animals - I myself made the Loch Ness Monster.

I like how you say that the Loch Ness Monster is a real life animal, as though he has been proven or something.

For the answer to your question, I myself have made an ape with the limited demo pack, and it looks pretty decently real. If the creature creator has as much variation as they claim they will be able to, then there is no reason that anyone couldn't make a real life animal with relative ease.

So far everything i've made has a round head and beady eyes, so i can't say i've done it, but if you look through the Sporepedia you'll almost definately find something closely modeled on a real-life animal, although as it's been stated, the games graphical style makes it appear too cartoony to look completely real.

and yeah, no one makes animals, they all make penis-people.

i once made a giant spider but then my insane side took over and i added horns and stuff 'cause why would you want to create a real creature when you have imagination?

i also second that there is only penis monsters or monsters with penis's

You can, actually, though it takes some creativity and effort. At E3, Will Wright showed off some slides of real-world creatures that folks had made. They were really quite remarkable.

I made a very humanish creature-- of course, he has four giant tentacles growing out of his back, and those tentacles can spit acid, but aside from that he's looks pretty humanoid.

Everything is cartoony and geared to be cute: even my best attempt to create a gribbly monster ended in failure. However, I am quite willing to accept this, and am more concerned about the game's difficulty, which looks on the wrong side of BioShock and Sim City Societies.

Well I make creatures like that too. But there is nothing to match the sheer unbridled joy that comes from having an army of giant crabs. With spaceships.

yes, with enough patience and skill you can eventually replecate Some real life animals. however the limitations of the game often makes it impossible to create creatures which acctually exist.

you can not make animals which use their hands for support (gorillas)
you can not make asymetrical animals (fiddler crabs)
you can not make legless creatures (worms)
it is very difficult to make small creatures (rodents and insects)

there are a Lot of restrictions.
