Man, I wish western developers would push the envelope like the japanese do. I'd love a non-JRPG (and non-anime) RPG with sex and horror in it. Dragon Age is still too tame.

Since there were no subtitles, and no dubbing, I pray that the trailer gets released with an English dub sometime soon, as I'd be very interested to know what they're saying (and I hate subs anyway...). Still, very weird trailer, but one that has definitely got me more interested in this game. I guess I have something else to look forward to for next year, then

That looks awesome as hell to me. I love the animation style, and if some of those are in game shots, they look amazing.
Please bring this over to the U.S.! It looks like a mind fuck (par for the course for the SMT games) of a game and I want to play it!!

my theory,
catharine is most likely underage, therefore his attraction to her is wrong in his eyes
the corpse is another man who was suduced by her and later commited suicide when he couldn't take it anymore.
those aren't sheep they are rams which symbolize sexual proweress, he has these nightmares because he is trying to ignore these urges that he has for the girl, with his transformation to a ram symbolizing that he gives into them.
catharine has probably done this befor, most likely with a paternal figure (father, stepfather, uncle, ect.) who previously molested her as a child.
the main character slowly goes insane knowing it is sick and wrong but sleeping with her anyway, this leads to psychological damage such as a split personality(the big boss ram) and i wouldn't rule out paranoid schizophrenia(if i spealt that right). part of the game will probably be collecting news articles and police files related to catharine to find out what her plans are.

im almost SURE that in the end you find out she is a boy. Sounds pretty typical of japan as well as "OMG what a nightmare!" haha
You're thinking way too small. This is the Shin Megami Tensei team we're talking about; chances are, she'll turn out to be Lucifer him/herself, and the last act of the game will give you the choice to either turn on her or join her in her hopelessly defiant attempts to overthrow God.cricket chirps said:

Releasing a game like Catherine before any of their major series, Persona or SMT, makes sense. They're testing the waters, before they dive deep into developing more complex games like we've come to expect from the SMT series.

So awsome. Even the music reminds me of Persona. It'll be nice to have a Persona type game that isn't mostly about teenage angust. If they could get away with Sudo-suicide, I'll bet they manage to make it over with the sexy bits. THey got away with the main protagonist in Persona three being being encouraged to go and 'make love' with one of his female friends, while she was under hypnotic control. They even had a naked shower scene (didn't see any naughty bits) and it came over. I'll be ready to pick this one up if and when it hits Canada
