Hi! So while initially setting up my PS3 I chose Spanish for a language. After starting Dead Island and earning a few trophies though, I decided to switch to English, because, I dunno, you know how trophies usually have punny names and these don't translate very well, at least to Spanish. So I did switch to English. While every other game I've played since has earned me trophies in English, Dead Island keeps writing them down in Spanish.

Is there any way I can change the trophy names to English without losing them or the game save data? I've googled a bit and most people suggest creating a new user and copying the data to that user (then deleting the previous user), but for some reason I can't copy Dead Island data (unlike every other game data I have). All I can think of is starting Dead Island anew as a new user (my girlfriend created her own account and sure enough she earns trophies in English). But I don't want to lose my trophies, let alone all the freaking progress. I'm already nearly finished with the city and there's so much stuff I do NOT want to do again...

So, any ideas? Are trophy names definitely hardcoded in a certain language for every user? Any way I can go around this?

As far as I know, yeah they are hardcoded in the sense that once you start them, they continue on in whatever language it was originally set to. You can't reset them unless you create a new user. Future trophies on other games should show up in english.

What if I manage to copy the game save data onto a new user? Wouldn't they show up in English? In any case I can't seem to copy Dead Island save data, for some reason...

Depends. Save data is usually coded to the user. If you start a game on your profile, it's unique to it. I lost my file for Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker HD, and used a backup from a friend, but achievements wouldn't unlock because it was made with his profile.
