I really don't want to bust your bubble, but...

Although, it doesn't seem to fit the actual situation. This accident is actually the parent's fault. Why would you leave a loaded gun on a fucking table when a three year old is around?
now here is the most important question why the hell were they letting a 3 year play a game that involved a gun in the first place, how stupid were these people?

Anti-R Rated Video Game and Anti-Gun Activists unite!

But that's just a case of bad and/or unobservant parenting, misuse of firearms and overall stupidity.

I'm calling BS. Unless the thing was cocked and locked I don't see how a 3 year old has the finger strength to pull the trigger on almost any stock double action semi-auto, except maybe one of the CZs with a long ass trigger travel. I'm wondering what the results of the gun shot residue test are on the kid. I bet they come back to show the kid didn't shoot the gun at all but the Dad did.
maybe it was the mother?

Being the asshole that I am, I think this is good. The parents were obviously careless and borderline retarded. Their offspring would share those characteristics. So their carelessness removed them from the future gene pool. I just hope to god they don't decide to replace the child.

Now, to be fair, here are the pics of the gun and wiimote.

I can see how a three year old could confuse the two. If she used her thumbs, she might have been able to pull the trigger. I'm going to go ahead and assume that the gun was loaded and chambered because I wouldn't put that past this stupidity...
were the bloody hell did they get that thing?

i thought he wii gun peripheral by that off brand (nyco?)was white not black

Hmm...

We need to sell more Wiis to rednecks.

Particularly ones that leave loaded guns sitting around their house where 3-year-olds can get at them.

Sick bastard. How the hell is a 3 year old supposed to know what a gun is? Fuck yourself you bastard. Banhammer be damned
He's blaming the parents for leaving a gun lying around, not the child. Kids die every year from pool accidents, pulling down pots of boiling water, sticking metal utensils into power sockets, drinking chemicals... a huge variety of household accidents.
It never stops being tragic when this happens. Of course the kid didn't know what the gun is, or at least if she was familiar with gun shapes, probably had no idea she was in any danger.

The parents are to blame for leaving a loaded gun lying around where a three year old could access it. They can possibly link the possibility that it looked like a gun to the child's experience with the Wii controller.
But they can't blame the peripheral, Nintendo, the accessory maker or the gaming industry in general for their ineptitude and lack of gun safety.

Wow. That is really tragic. I really feel the need to stress the need for better education about firearms. Because that sort of thing is really tragic.

No problems here. Anyway, that guy already got suspended. No need to continue raging at him.

Well apparently the stepfather took the gun out because he thought he heard a prowler, then put it down and left it unattended. He was also asleep when the gun went off... which means instead of putting the gun away, or on a high shelf, he forgot about it and went back to bed... while the mother and daughter were still awake?

I don't know, it looks like a shitty Glock knockoff, those things are everywhere.

In other news: I wish I was surprised that that was their wiimote holder... all I've got is apathy. :(

I feel quite bad for laughting out loud.

Buy pistol.
Load.
Leave pistol with child.
Child manages to get the gun, whilst in the same room as a parent, and shoot herself.
IT IS VIDEOGAMES FAULT

Seriously... You wouldn't leave bleach around where kids are present, you wouldn't leave knives around, you wouldn't leave exposed electrical wires around... and those things aren't ment to be dangerous!

If you leave an implement designed to KILL PEOPLE around and let your child play with it, you ARE asking for trouble.

They might have it in black, or they could have spray painted it.
