Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior Is Out Now

The expansion to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare lets you play out your "who would win in a fight between..." fantasies.

Who would win in a fight between a pirate and a ninja? A samurai and a knight? A spartan and a viking? These questions have long remained unanswerable mysteries, until today. Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior, the first paid DLC pack for first-person-slasher Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is out now, and lets you pit some of the greatest warriors in history together in a no-holds-barred death match.

Inspired from the intensity and epicness of swordfighting movies such as 300, Gladiator and Braveheart, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare aims to bring that experience to the hands of a gamer.

The expansion costs $14.99 if you already own the base Chivalry game, or you can purchase them in a bundle for $34.99. The DLC's key features are:

All new classes including: Samurais, Spartans, Vikings, Knights, Ninjas and Pirates
Faster, more diverse game play makes Chivalry 1st person melee combat even more intense
Each warrior has a unique arsenal and abilities, which promotes more variety in play styles and forces players to adapt their strategy to the situation.
All new weapons and animations
6 new environments, playable in many different game modes
New Game mode "Multi-team" - up to 6 teams at once!
Track your skills and stats in the new player profile screen

You can pick it up on the official Steam store [http://store.steampowered.com/app/241280]. What do you guys think? I picked up the base Chivalry game during the last Steam sale, and while it was fun, I did grow weary of it relatively quick. $15 seems a bit high for this DLC.

I didn't enjoy the game.

It felt like a MP only version of Zeno Clash, without the cool graphical style.

Not a fan of this either. It just feels...off. It feels more like a community-made mod rather than an official dlc pack.

Any game so far with the deadliest warrior IP attached to it has ranged from 'Oh my god I want to bite my fingers off so I can stop playing' to 'meh'. After playing this round at a friends for a bit, it fits somewhere inbetween.

I think I will pass on this and just continue screwing around on PVK with the other 30ish people that seem to still play it. At least there I can entertain myself by killing people with my parrot.

Where I have a big problem with this is, when I first purchased Chivalry there was a huge thread asking the developers if they were going to release all future DLC for free, and they said something to the effect of "Yes and more yes. We are firm believers that gameplay-relevant DLC should be free, just do us a favor and tell your friends about it." (though I'm not sure if that was exactly what they said, but it was along those lines). Then they proceed to only partially patch the problems from release of Medieval Warrior and release the first DLC for $15 instead of free as they previously said.

Now this could be due to royalties they had to pay to Deadliest Warrior for the name, and since I have no idea what happened in that boardroom, I can't really judge them for it entirely. But, as a consumer, I can vote with my wallet and refuse to purchase it.
