I thought we knew that he was doing a trilogy? Not to sound like an ass (even though I probably do) but movie nerds have been talking about "when" rather than "if" for some time now.
Ledger's death rocked him hard, but I seriously doubt he was going to cancel production of the third title.

Avengers, Thor, Nolan's own Superman: Man of Steel, Green Lantern, Antman, Green Hornet, Spiderman, Deadpool, X-Men: First Class, R.E.D. ...
I have to say that of these,
Avengers is the only one I'm reasonably certain will be worth seeing. I have some hopes for Thor, and Nolan's a capable enough director that his Superman might be worth a look. As for the rest... Time will tell, but what we've seen on many of them doesn't exactly make me leap for joy.
Well he's not directing Superman, but he and his brother have written the story/screenplay. He's producing and essentially godfathering it, so he may as well be directing. What may come as no surprise considering Nolan's style of films, the villain will be Brainiac, and considering the budget is going to be something like $250 million, I think this will at least be a far sight better than Superman Returns. The hell were you thinking Singer? X-3 sucked and it was your fault! Deadpool will probably suck unless they just rework that shit completely...
That being said, X-Men: First Class is going to be set somewhere in the 60's/70's. To me, that's interesting. I just don't trust Webb with Spiderman at this point, so I can't really comment.

At the very least, the cinematography will be good. At this point, I really doubt anyone can top the Joker. I mean, he is essentially Batman's greatest enemy, and he got handled in The Dark Knight. Anyone beyond that is most likely going to be underwhelming.
Also, for the love of God, Mr. Nolan, get Mr. Bale to stop the damned growling. Please.
The cinematography has always been excellent in his films, even
Momento and
Following. People are saying "who could he possibly put in this film?" But I imagine he has it covered, I couldn't see him not realising that he put Batman's best villain in the second film and left some big shoes to fill for the third.
And agreed on the growling. Jesus...
