Civilization 5 Mod Adds Papers, Please Nation

Snakeeater337's Arstotzka mod adds the titular country to the roster of playable nations in Civilization 5.

Civilization V is regarded by some as in the gaming community as the <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/8126-Review-Civilization-V>finest Civilization game ever made. Likewise, <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/7959-Papers-Please-and-Brothers-A-Tale-of-Two-Sons>Papers, Please was considered by many to be one of the best and most interesting games of 2013. Seeing as the two hail from completely different genres, combining them might seem like an odd idea. That said, thanks to modder Snakeeater337, fans of both can now play as their favorite totalitarian state in their favorite game of world conquest.

Snakeater337's Arstotzka mod, which can be found <a href=http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=223772176>at Steam, adds the titular nation to Civ V's roster of playable countries. While a lesser mod might have done this by merely slapping some Papers, Please imagery over one of the pre-existing nations, Mr. 337 went the full mile and created an entirely new choice based off of the source game. For instance, playing as Astotzka will yield access to the custom Border Guard unit and Border Checkpoint building. The country also comes with the unique "Glory to Arstotzka" trait which increases worker production while decreasing food and happiness across cities.

If this sounds as nifty to you as it does to us, you can download the mod by subscribing to Snakeeater337. Installing it will also require the presence of the Brave New World expansion. If you don't have it or, for that matter, Civilization 5 itself, you might want to swing over to Humble Bundle which is still in the midst of selling Sid Meier's games <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131992-Humble-Bundle-Offers-Civilization-Focused-Sid-Meier-Collection>on the cheap.

Hmmm...While I like the idea, it's clear that the only thing he had to work with was the Border Checkpoint from Papers, Please.
I'd personally would like to see Arstozka fleshed out more, Just reading it makes me think the immigration policy is literally the only thing that entire country does.

Is Glorious news! Now, I can pretend manage Glorious nation while home! Is very nice! All game of needs now is rename of barbarian to Kolechian, for of portray accuracy.

((Neat little idea, but it really does need some fleshing out, especially in the fluff department.))

"I swear to god Gandhi, if you keep sending your priests into my borders to spread your faith I'm going ban oranges next World Congress!"

No citizens of India allowed through the border today

Civilization V is considered to be the best? First I'm hearing of this, game went Supreme Commander on us when I tried it, with the flashy new graphics and the core gameplay gutted.

Actually with both expansions out it is generally regarded as "The game we all thought we were getting", but I guess that doesn't sound as good. Anyway, it's bloody brilliant and well worth the purchase(with the dlc that is). 15usd on humble bundle.

GLoriuos day. Now i can patrol my massive boarders all at once!

This looks great, and this is why mods are great thing in gaming. However it seems that for some reason the game makers are unable to comprehend the "i want more nations at the same time" and we got to resort to mods to have many countries on same map.

meh, the nations in vanilla / barely modded Civ are waaay too similar anyway. What does this add, two new buildings and a unit? What I'd like to see is an overhaul mod that promotes vastly different strategies of play for each empire. Fall from Heaven did it for Civ IV, albeit in a fantasy setting.

Captcha: Tea, Earl Gray, Hot

Don't mind if I do, but it's Earl Grey.

Well, you can give them a pass there, that shit ain't easy, All the RNG, all the scripting, Event triggers and whatnot.
While it's okay for a modder, keep in mind that the Devs also need to code everything else in the game as well while a Modder just needs to edit that code.

It's a valid criticism, don't get me wrong, but I'd give them a break there.

No, i wont give them a break for not allowing me to play with more than 8 nations at a time. especially when the mod to do that simply removes the limitation in nation selection. they already have more than 8 spawn locations mapped out and they seem to be either predestined for every existing nation or random anyway. yet i got 20 nations and can use only 8? why!

Can anyone who has played with this mod explain to me what Immigration Inspector specialist slots are? I know about engineer, scientist, and merchant slots. Did the modder create a whole new specialist unit?
