Civilization V DirectX 10/11 bug

I bought Civ V a few days ago and discovered something odd.

I can't run the DirectX 10 or 11 version, only Dx9 and I have Windows 7 installed on my computer. Do any of you know how to fix this, or at least know what causes it?

A lot of people have been getting this error, including myself. What you have to do is find your steam.exe, and got to compatibility mode. The trick is to click the "change settings for all users" and you'll probably discover that it is set to compatibility mode. Just turn it off and you should be just fine. If this doesn't work, some people have said that running the Directx installer that is located in the Civ V directory also works.

I got my computer a year or two ago, so it should support it, although it just had Win Xp installed as I didn't want Vista. I got Win 7 later.

I tried it but I just ended up with the same result.

Steam was on Win Vista Compatibility mode, as Fiend Dragon suggested. I turned it off now, and Civ V works fine.

ok, I tried these. I have re-installed Direct X from civ folder, ensured neither civ exe has compatibility mode checked on it, and ensured that for steam as well. I guess I am hoping you have more things to try.

Hey guys, I have a brand new Windows 7 PC that I built myself and it has DX11 compatible graphics (HD graphics 3000). I had this same problem and I read this thread then turned off compatibility mode, installed "DXsetup" and everything but the problem persisted. So I am coming to you guys one more time for some help. If you could answer, it would be greatly appreciated.
