You should make a new thread when you've finished the series. Tell us what you think.
Do it nao!
Why did I make myself watch that, if not to see how many times I can cry in the space of an hour..? Don't get me wrong, utterly amazing series, but... T_T
Now, I managed to hold it together when Nagisa died. I saw it coming a mile off. I mean even from the first series. I blinked back tears when Ushio's turtle broke, & Tomoya was being so fucking cold. But as soon as she said "First thing from Daddy", in the sunflower field, that was it. I was in bits. It struck FAR too close to home, and from then on, it was every ten minutes. When Sanae cried. When Tomoya was talking to his dad. Twice (too fucking close to home, man.). When Tomoya sang Ushio to sleep with Dango Daikazoku. When Ushio died. That was not fucking fair. And finally, through the whole of the last fucking episode. That episode, however, fixed EVERYTHING. Nagisa came back, Ushio lives. FUCK YEAH. I honestly think that if they hadn't done that, I'd be a manic depressive wreck for the next few weeks...

So yeah, heartcrushing stuff, but hey, you wanted to know, right? Right!? =P
Certainly among my top 5 favourite anime series. VERY glad I gave it a watch.

[sub][sub]And I'd just rewatched Gurren Lagann... I was all happy. =/[/sub][/sub]

*nods knowingly*

It really is one of the most moving things I have ever seen...

I prescribe a healthy dose of full metal panic fumoffu, twice a day to alleviate the symptoms of the feels...

I couldn't agree more. However, if you think that's the worst Key can throw at you, don't ever watch Air. From what I've heard it makes Clannad look like Lucky Star.

Why is everyone suddenly talking about this?

Is it 2009 again?

Steve Jobs dies. Mass Effect 3 is terrible.

I find that there really are far more touching stories out there, but realistically there OP they may not make as much of an impact on you. Because you are you and not me.

Everyone has to see something for the first time at some point. I notice you didn't make it to this site until it had been up and running for a few years. Media doesn't exactly have an expiration date.

I know that feeling. Yes I do. ='D *Sniff*

Nagisa's death kind of opened the faucet already, but the father/daughter reunion set the Niagara falls loose. ...man I need to rewatch that series.

And damn, I wish could pull off a marathon like that! I lost that ability long ago...

Captcha: bitter end. Not this time, Captcha, not this time.

I know where your coming from with that, it does get very heart wrenching at parts. Even my gf at the time laughed at me for shedding a tear, but to hell with it, it was sad.

Only that and the ending to Angel Beats have genuinely made me sad. Such a break from the general humour and madness of the first 12 episodes.

In the last week, I've watched/rewatched:- Gurren Lagann, Highschool of the Dead (In a day), Elfen Lied (Also in a day), Clannad, Clannad: After Story, The first only Spice and Wolf Series, and half of Cowboy Bebop....

What can I say? Once I get going, there's no stopping me, when it's an Anime binge! =D

Well, I stopped watching Afterstory at exactly the end of episode 14 to stop myself from going into a spiral of depression...

It's so obvious what's gonna happen

Nagisa dies in childbirth, bad times all round.

Glad I got out early! Still Afterstory does kick all the characters in the face and goes "lol RL sucks, live with it yo'"

I rewatched the whole of Gurren Lagann just the other day as well... /Manly Tear

Seriously the last 3 or 4 episodes were just Manly Tear-tastic

Now all I need to do is rewatch the entire Higurashi saga again. Man that second season was so good.

This season's new anime? They're on my tabs... I'll get round to watching them at some point.

Ya know, I realised the other day that anime and pretty much anything on the Internet doesn't really have an expiration date. Some kids on the bus I happened to be on were going on about Naruto and Fruit's Basket (among others)...

Oh and Soul Eater. My best friend and I were waiting for those new episodes to come out when it was fresh! These guys are just going through the Archives of Time!

Stop making me feel old! I'm only 18!

Right, Medaka Box. TWGOK. You've been on my tabs for far too long!

What?!
No!
You can't do that!
Yes, Nagisa dies. But that's in no way the end of the series. It's at the point after Nagisa's death the series truly shines. Truly. Fucking. Shines.
You owe it to yourself to finish the series, man.

Dango Daikazoku brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it now, and I couldn't listen to the ending credits after some of the episodes because it was just too much. For sure, it really is the best Anime I've ever seen and did good things to me on a personal and emotional level.

Snippitty snip
Nooo! As nigh on unbearably heart-wrenching it is to go through, it's just too good to not watch. It's genuinely heartbreaking, and just keeps hitting you while you're down, but once you get to the end of Afterstory, it's all worth it.

If Clannad had a depressing ending I don't think I would've been able to recover

Clannad would've been even better with a sad ending, it would actually become in a grater sense a tragedy then it currently is. Now I might love feeling miserable in a weird twisted way, but there just are not enough true sad endings and I was really hoping for one from ~After Story~.
What I'm trying to say is that I always go in knowing that in every single anime/movie/book/game it will work out in the end, of course I do when about 99% of every single story written these days have a happy ending.
Now Clannad and especially ~After Story~ is together a REALLY great story/stories, well not all that great in hindsight, but the presentation of them is of stunningly high quality. ~After Story~ did leave me broken for weeks, but that was the whole point of it. There is always this thing nagging me in the back of the head when I watch things like this, this nagging sensation of knowing that it WILL all work out.....

.. Yeah I kinda just kept going there didn't I?

Oh yeah, I think it's been mentioned but FMP? Fumoffu is more or less the perfect cure for the Clannad blues. :)

One last thing though.. go watch Air, I DARE YOU... Gao~

How I envy you... The last time I did a eyecancer inducing session like that was with... Darker than Black I think. Which was quite some time ago. Any other series you watched in one sitting?

Clannad is a series I want to watch, because everyone says that it's so great.

But for christs sake, the character designs are hideous. It's the most generic anime designs you can imagine.
