"Cliffy B" Poser Stopped on Twitter

A fake Twitter account impersonating game designer Cliff Bleszinski has been renamed at Epic's request.

"FakeCliffy_B [http://twitter.com/fakecliffy_b]", as he is now known as, became internet famous for his parodying of Gears of War designer and gaming playboy Cliff "Cliffy B" Bleszinksi on micro-blogging site Twitter [http://twitter.com/home].

Twitter, which limits posts to less than 140 characters, allows users to blog small updates.

"Cliffy B" made a name for himself by updating his page with satirical comments on the games industry. One loving comment on Sony's Home read, "My guy in Home isn't nearly buff enough, and I can't kill anything. Home sucks."

Epic discovered the page, which is run by two anonymous individuals, notified Twitter and had the page renamed and the old one locked due to "allegations of copyright violations."

A Twitter representative explained, "Impersonation is against our terms of service unless it's parody."

Wait, I thought it WAS parody. Doesn't it not violate Twitter's terms of service then?

Copyright violations?. Has Epic patented CliffyB's stupidity?.

No need, Mark!. Nobody else can match CliffyB there!

Huh. So satirical CliffyB is indistinguishable from real CliffyB. How about that.

Unless their real names were Cliffy B, there was enough evidence of them trying to replicate the famous Cliffy B that it could fall under impersonation, even if their posts were more humorous than realistic.

So either Epic is admitting they don't have any humor at all or that Cliff realy acts like that all the time.

I'm surprised he hasn't actually said this yet.[/quote]QFT

Anyway, I'm thinking that for it to have been parody, there would have had to be some distinction, so the casual glance can tell you. FakeCliffy B, for example, can have him being satirical while still letting you know he isn't Cliffy B.

Can't patented stuff like that. Cliffy B really needs to go into medical research. I wanna know how he can kiss his own arse like that and still look sexy.

I gotta admit, if he didn't open his mouth so much, he'd be a lot more attractive.

Yeah I dont get how they managed to get his name changed. I didn't realize they owned his name. Cliff Smith will wake up one morning and realized he's been sued for his name by Epic...
