Clock Possibly Counting Down to Modern Warfare 3 Announcement
A mysterious Modern Warfare countdown website has less than 5 days left on the clock, perhaps to an announcement of a third game.
For those of you familiar with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare line of games, the implications of an official Activision countdown site titled findmakarov.com [www.findmakarov.com] - almost undoubtedly a reference to Vladimir Makarov - likely gets you rather giddy.
The site's existence became known after several members of the press received dog tags from Activision with the URL, the name "Shepard, Lt. General", the date "003-01-2011", and the words "End the War". All things considered, there is a lot of evidence pointing to some sort of announcement concerning the Modern Warfare series coming March 1.
For those of you who have absolutely no idea who Vladimir Makarov is or why we should give a damn about finding him, here's a short synopsis: Makarov is a very, very angry Russian Ultranationalist responsible for the invasion of the US by Russian forces and the main antagonist for the second Modern Warfare game. You spend most of the game trying to get rid of him, but you still haven't managed it by the end, so attempting to "find Makarov" would require a whole new Modern Warfare game. Do you see where I'm going with this?
It is by no means an absolute guarantee that Activision will be announcing a third installment of the Modern Warfare series in four days, but I'd bet all my consoles and my cat on it.
