CoD is a very good game, we wouldn't be discussing it if it wasn't.

CoD is bad.
It has a terrible storyline, the gameplay is just generic FPS, and the graphics are nothing special.
This is probably just me being bias, as i need more depth to games i play :p

Your logic is bullshit.
You can't claim to have an argument based on logic if your logic is crap.

It's not hard.
It's really not.

And no, I will not discuss your point. I'm going to bed.

Hugs and kisses.
Would you be offended if I said I love you? <3

On topic: I'm not going to argue about the actual quality of the CoD series, despite the fact that I don't like the game, but your logic states that good things are what we talk about. Ergo, 9/11 was happy fun time. *Did not resort to Godwins law*

Also by your logic, FF13 was AMAZING. /troll

For me, the CoD franchise is fairly new. I didn't like any Call of Duty games until Black Ops. Well, while the other people are bashing it, I praise it. The main reason is Black Ops is my first CoD game ever. My mom got it for me on X-mas cause she thought it was my fav series. (Wrong: It was Halo, and she got it on PS3 instead) I tried it out anyways, starting with the single-player mode. It was decent, but short. Then I tried out the multi-player. I suddenly realized that Call of Duty was actually fun! The perks, weapons, and equipment sort of felt familiar to me, and I was a very dominant player immediately. I don't care about K/D ratio, I use crappy weapons if I want to, which the Contracts awarded me with. BO also had Nazi Zombies, another gamestyle that I was new to. I was immediately addicted(still am), trying to get trophies, inviting my friends so we can do easter eggs, giving each others info so we can get Map packs. It was all new to me for the PS3. Then I look at Youtube for tips, and most of the videos are bombarded with dislikes and "FAG OPS!" and "BF3 iz bettr, CoD iz for FAGS!" Also, Modern Warfare fanboys who complain that Black Ops is unbalanced:

So you ignore the noobtubing? Commando stabbing? The fact that MW2 is filled with Interventions and UMV's?

Hitler was an advocate of non-smoking, therefor if don't like smoking you're as bad as Hitler!

See what I did there. Sarcasm baby.

Your argument is incredibly flawed, popularity is no indication of quality.

But anyway, I really enjoyed Cod at first, particularly cod 4, but my interested has been eroded with year after of year of the same stuff over and over. Blops will be the last Cod I play, save for a major revamp of the series.

The way I see it, the CoD games are well crafted and quite enjoyable. However, they have been largely unremarkable for several entries (CoD4 was the last really great one)

My dad loves black ops because its quite accessible and lends itself to short sessions (online) rather well. Even I enjoy paying a few online games.

Opinions are just a myth. It's impossible for people to dislike what I like.

Popularity =/= quality. Exhibit A: The Twilight series.

Call of Duty is the Transformers of video games. I'll just leave it at that, it doesn't mean it's bad or it's good, it just is what it is.

people hate cod because they loved cod4, since; all previously established realism has gone. So the shock and awe loses its effect when its done every 5 minutes, and things like super soldiers (juggernauts) show up, yes mechanics are important, but so is story, writing, character development and just about everything other than graphics and the engine ( the engine is the same as the last 4 games spanning 4 years) .... people like you need to look deeper than just "the mechanics work so its a good game" actually, the mechanics haven't changed at all.... so it can't get better or worse from a game play perspective. Believe it or not, not everyone wants to eat the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner... they could easily have released dlc packs for all the difference it made to gameplay single player campaign and multiplayer, rather than charging 100 bucks a pop for something we have all played... it has been the same game recycled since call of duty 4 and they are not going to change that. and that is what makes it a bad game.

btw sniper ghost warrior was the worst shooter I have ever played. by far.

PS: Go watch Total Biscuit's WTF is of BF3's singleplayer.
Just watched it...

I'm actually very disappointed. Like, you have no idea.

I thought Bad Company 2 had a decent singleplayer, but if that is what Battlefield 3 singleplayer is to the end? Fuck it, I'm going straight to multiplayer.

Then again, I got Battlefield 3 for free, so I shouldn't be complaining. Anyone who bought sure does though.

As for CoD, I think it's an alright game, but I just dislike how it has been reboxed like 6 times with very little new content.

Its a good game in the sense that its functional. However, it's the Madden of shooters: generic shovelware title released EVERY year with not much other than some new guns and better graphics.
CoD was a great example of what shooters were. COD4 was brilliant and worthy of praise.
But like what happens to nearly every great thing... it becomes a cheap cash in.
Edit:

Exactly why you don't get it. Its like a person who's never played something other than farmville not understanding the hate for farmville. You don't know what the others were like, and as such have nothing to compare it to.

And MW2 WAS shit.

You know, just because you say this argument only applies to CoD doesn't make it so, this horrendously flawed argument can be applied to almost anything perplexingly popular, but bad, in media, such as the Twilight Series and the Transformers movies, both popular, both shit, just because something is popular doesn't mean it is high quality

"Good" is a subjective term.

The real issue here is that Call of Duty is a game that sells a lot. We wouldn't be discussing it if it wasn't.
