It is a new game that people spent money on. Why shouldn't they play it without having to give arcade games a go as well?

Well, If a kid is playing with a deflated ball and is contempt with it then he is happy. Then when the same kid gets a new, highly anticipated, entertaining, and multiple new features and classes/perks, Then he will be happier with that new ball until that ball gets old and deflated-er. Its okay XBLA People wont be on MW2 forever. But expect the same for MW3.

CoD MewTwo Murders Xbox Live Arcade

The gigantenormous launch of Modern Warfare 2 may have spurred a staggering 2 million concurrent Xbox Live users, but it looks like none of them were buying XBLA titles.

Are you tired of hearing about Modern Warfare 2 yet? Good, so are we. And so, one would surmise, are the makers of all the smaller titles available on Xbox Live Arcade. In studying the impact of what is unquestionably the biggest launch of the year - and possibly the largest entertainment launch of all time - GamerBytes' Ryan Langley looked at the stats for Xbox Live Arcade games [http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/11/the_impact_of_modern_warfare_2.php] and found a rather staggering change from Nov. 2nd to Nov. 9th - the day before MW2 came out.

Judging by these stats, XBLA activity dropped about 40% as gamers readied their terrorist-shooting trigger fingers. Trials HD, which had just shy of 15,000 players on its leaderboard Nov. 2nd, dropped to slightly under 9,000 a week later, a change that we see pretty much across all the most popular titles. This, of course, was despite Xbox Live reaching a peak of activity shortly after MW2's release [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96096-XBox-Live-Hits-2-Million-Concurrent-Users] with 2 million concurrent users.

So, recap of numbers on Xbox Live: One million banned [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96037-Microsoft-Bans-up-to-One-Million-Xbox-Live-Accounts], two million play, 40% fewer on XBLA.

Hey, that rhymed.

Everytime you call it CoD MewTwo, I end up hating you a little bit more.

It is sad because I used to harbor no hate towards you.

:p

MewTwo??? The pokemon?
Nope...they are just associating the name of a great battle monster with a shiny first person shooter.

Oh shit, that isn't good. I bet small time developers are really feeling the heat right now.

Everyone dropped their XBLA games to go play the newest thing! It's perfectly normal and it'll correct itself in time.

I prefer to think that the MW2 players dying out because they forget to feed themselves as a cleansing of the gene pool. finally, it got some life guards! Seriously, the sooner they die out, the sooner the rest of us (the smarter ones who didn't get suckered into the stupid thing) can get back to living in a utopia of BioShock 2 =3

It was to be expected. If I'd not bought Dragon age I would only be playing MW2.

It's a shame, there are plenty of shit hot releases right now. Although I'd love to play Borderlands, L4D2 and Tekken 6 there are not enough hours in a day between playing MW2 and DA:O. I won't be buying a new title for a while.

I've noticed on my friends list that everyone is on MW2. People I used to play SFIV, UFC, Endwar, Magic the gathering etc with, not just the COD4 lot are on it. No one seems to be playing anything else. It is a very tight game, if they sort out the connection problems.

I'm just waiting for after xmas when all of the 12 year olds get it from their oblivious parents. They are going to pad my kill to death ratio.

You know maybe its not just mewtwo thats kiling xbla but the stupidly overpriced games on there that are clearly not even worth half the cost microsoft charges for them? maybe if they i dont know perhaps dropped the prices to something more realistic instead they would see a rise in the number of people trying them who otherwise wouldnt touch them with a huge pole.
