I've found several mediocre places, such as right next to macmillan, or right up the back near where u enter the arena, but im now playing veteran difficulty and cand find a particularly good spot. Yes, i am aware that im losing because i suck, but still:
Wheres the best place to camp, and with what weapons?

or go behind the bumper cars, behind the fence, then sit tight, somewhere between nade spam line and the radiation kill line.
little tricky, and still have to fight tangos that go for the bumper cars, BUT semi-shotty and m21 are all you need

Why Camp?

Just grab a gun and kill them, I usually hang out round the heli spawn, it's a flexible position, with some cover if needed and I'm close to the enemy spawn, thus my ammo source. If stuff gets frisky I retreat the the ferris use my OP sniper peg em off return.

If I'm lazy all I do is use my jump skills to get on top of ferris with my sniper... only problem is getting down, if I get shot ONCE on the way down I die.

The horrible memories of that level....

I camp behind the bumper car thingy on the other side of the hite fence, you can see under the bumper car platform and shoot at their feet as they run by.

I'd also say behind the bumper car rink so you can see around it while looking towards where McMillian sits about doing nothing in particular. With the addition of liberally sprinkling the claymores around the bumper cars and the ferris wheel it makes it a little bit easier.

In order to survive getting McMillan to the helicopter, go around the front where you can be to some extent covered. This was learnt the hard way after being hit in the face to death for the dozenth time.

On another note ;does it bother anyone else how the enemy AI continues to shoot even while you lie dead, standing up and out of cover ignoring any fire from your admittedly useless fellow soldiers?

I actually don't camp. I run around planting claymores in tall grass, thrown C4 under cars, and run under the choppers to take out the drop soldiers.

You mean the Ferris Wheel in Cherynobyl?

I never got that far, but my brother just layed down in the ticket booth, screaming in fear as grenades exploded everywhere aound him non-stop. Was Bloody 'Ell getting to the chopper at the end, but he made it just in time.

It works if you lay down your traps right, but isn't exactly the calmest spot around.

If you run to the far right, past the gate into the buildings and take a left there's a spot you can just sit at for a few minutes while Macmillan does all the work with maybe 2 guys walking past you. The difficulty is reaching the LZ once it's time though.

There's a spot around the buildings where you can just wait it out with no guys, then just sprint for the helicopter and your done.
