So as the title mentions Call of Duty 4 has just been added to the Xbox Live Marketplace Games on Demand service and costs a whopping 49.99 euros to purchase

Link in case you dont believe me - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-IE/games/offers/f0000007-0000-4000-8000-0000415607e6

50 euro for a 2 and a half year old game.Seriously??Prior to this the most expensive game was ?29.99 and I thought that was a rip off but this is a whole new level of taking the piss.Is there anyone out there actually stupid enough to buy the game at that price?

Oh and it's not even the GOTY edition that featured the new maps

£42.50?!?

That's astonishing, it wasn't even that much when it first came out, I got it for £30 :S

... My God...

Same applies to other games. MW2 [though it is very slightly more understandable] still stands at a firm £45 in some shops. However, CoD4 is pushing it.

It's still that same price in the shops if it's new ( maybe a tad cheaper) but yeah, bit of a rip. You're as well just buying the game. :/

Theres a limit to the use of my newly coined phrase, "think like a business man" this is that limit!

I know business is all about making money but that's "pants on head retarded" (we all get one use of it).

I noticed this too. It's funny when ME2 came out I thought I would get ME1 and play it first as I hadn't yet. I had seen the greatest hits or whatever edition for $20 in a lot of stores, so I thought I'd see how much it was on GOD.

It was 29.99. Why would I pay more for something that isn't a hard copy?

The only reason I buy direct download games is if they are cheaper and if I can't find them otherwise.

But I think we should be pointing the finger at the consumers here. Obviously there are some idiots who are willing to pay that much for these games, and they are the majority, otherwise the price would drop.

So far all Games On Demand are fuckin' expensive or at best comparable to store prices. So I don't see any reason to buy any Games On Demand. Knowing Micro$oft they're not gonna get more reasonably priced any time soon.

What a rip off and who the hell would pay that much for the first Modern Warfare when Modern Warfare 2 is out. CoD4 should be going for £20-£25 right now. Fucking money whoring arseholes.

Games On Demand is a bad deal for popular games. And the usual retail price for almost everything else.

Well then.

Don't buy it. Big hint there. I generally avoid Games on Demand because it's overpriced and stupid for crap you could buy for much, much cheaper.
