Command & Conquer: Stealth Tank

Suppose EA would make a game about Nod's infamous Stealth Tanks. Let's say it would be a first/third person stealth action/vehicle simulation game. What would make such a game awesome? what would you include?

I'm picturing a mission based game where you have to destroy well guarded tech buildings, high-priority GDI-officers, etc. You start out with a limited amount of fuel and energy. Fuel is used for movement, energy is used to power your stealth generator. the Stealth system could be comprised in to four parts:

- Visual Stealth (if units can see you directly, use full power on the visual stealth)
- Radar Stealth (a constant burden on you energy consumption, unless you take out radio towers)
- Heat Stealth (masking your heat signatures, peaks if you're using weapons/moving at high speeds)
- Sound Stealth (watch the ground carefully, if you drive on gravel you make more noise than if you drive on roads, so planning the quitest paths will help in remaining stealthy)

So, you can directly control the amount of energy you put in your stealth generator, and that determines how stealthy you are. energy can also boost your speed or your armor, but putting too much power in one of the three systems could overheat it, meaning you have to switch between armor, speed and stealth, (or any combination) at the right times to complete the mission.

energy is infinite (100% divided into the three systems) but fuel is finite (giving you a time limit to complete the mission) fuel can be converted into an energy boost for a short period, giving you an temporary edge, but less time to complete the mission.

Each following mission could have better and better detection systems, and you can upgrade your stealth tank as well.

So, what do you think?

Peh. I don't see why the game should be limited to one NOD tank. The limitation makes it less compelling. Plus it wasn't a particularly memorable vehicle from the series. The NOD FLAME TANK however, that would be more interesting.

I will refer you to a superior tank game...

other tank games will never compare. Although a stealth tank mod would be hilarious and awesome for battletanx

Seconded!

I've liked C+C since the very beginning of the series and have grown up with it. Even though I'm a hardcore RTS fan I'd love them to do other things with the IP. They'd be a massive backlash from the "Omg it isn't an RTS" crowd though (see:Dawn of War).

While the premise of a game based on doing "Fire missions" of that sort sounds interesting, I would never be able to buy it. Why? Because as far as I'm concerned, Command & Conquer died when EA killed Westwood.

Well, It doesn't neccecarily have to be C&C IP. What I'm interested in is what would you do to make such a game awesome. What features/gameplay elements would you like to see?

I want a mix between Command and Conquer and any good FPS with stealth capabilities. (Crysis 2 looked like a good candidate)

I want my first mission to be "Scout the landing zone" You do a first person high altitude drop from an aircraft and land on a small beach together with 4 other units, 2 MG soldiers and 2 rocket troops. You have a high powered rifle that one shot kills infantry and does moderate damage to tanks (all FPS of course)
Your teammates are group 1 and 2 and follow your commands (like republic commando)

After securing the beach a Mobile Construction Vehicle gets airlifted into the area and unpacks.

This is where the game shifts and turns to the well known and loved base "building and resource collecting RTS".
The little squad you secured the beach with are now just your basic infantry.

Continue the mission. "ie. destroy the enemy base"

ANY unit you build now is direct controllable either 1st person (infantry) or 3rd person (vehicles, 1st as well if you want) and by any I mean any! You can also drive an MCV is you want.

Play styles:

Direct action: Make 12 tanks and Ctrl+1 them to group 1. Now select a tank from group 1 and press 'enter'. This is now the squad leader (you) and the other nine tanks follow your command (just like Republic Commando).
Get destroyed and you just go back to tactical few (RTS).

Infiltration: The "small infantry group in enemy base" scenario from C&C? Now in FPS style!
Success rate increased by 50% and reloading times decreased by 80%.

This is the game I want to play!!! With todays technology and know-how on games it should be possible to make.

Anyone know a good company that wants to invest in such an idea?

Can't I just get an epic, third person action game where you kill stuff as Yuriko Omega?

There is, thats where I got the idea from. But thats just FPS in C&C universe. I'm talking about a hybrid game RTS/FPS. But both IP's should mix good together.

Hmm, problems with an RTS/FPS hybrid are: Who will watch over your base while you're leading your tanks forward? If an AI takes over and it does an okay job, won't you just rather stay in FPS mode forever, and just use the RTS interface to switch from FPS scenario to FPS scenario?

Also, the overview of where the enemies are and where you are is always better in RTS view than in FPS view.

One possibility is to have one player be the RTS Commander and the other player the FPS Commando, opening up a unique co-op dynamic. Hmm, that could work.

Tanks have all sorts of fun tactics that aren't often enough portrayed in video games. For example, hull-down.

Peek-a-boo, I see you.

Well... Nobody will be watching the base actually, except you threw the minimap. Keep in mind, I had this idea when co-op in games was limited to "I don't attack you till the mutual enemy is down"

In a multiplayer environment I don't think switching to an FPS pov has any benefits. Unless you gained special powers for being in fps.

That does sound nice but I would love a Game about you being a GDI Foot solider,

Yeah...

Maybe FPS or Third Person,
You would have access to the entire GDI, NOD and maybe Scrin Arsenal...
You could even command GDI units and GDI Armor units with Squad base tactics
Maybe even Not a Solider but a GDI Commando.

Oh Wait...,

EA WAS MAKING THAT UNTIL They AXED IT!!!

Seriously... I'm I the only one who remembered and wanted this title that EA was making?
