This game sounds fun just from the achievements. What's the Black Ops Arcade?
It's called Dead Ops Arcade. I have a feeling that's gonna be the extended zombie mode (or modes).

OT: Killing Castro sounds cool and all, but I don't like the idea of retconning actual history, unless they're going for a total alternate universe Cold War. I know the Call of Duty franchise has never really been about realism, but don't throw one or two fictional historical events into a game based around factual historical events just because it's cool.
Judging from the fact that the game is about a secret military project of super soldiers and that you have crossbows with the same accuracy as a gun this game is by far not a historical piece. It's like saying Bioshock is lame or stupid because they changed the way 50s science evolved...It's dumb logic.
Bioshock was a total alternate universe and did not include any other historical events from the time period of its setting, so I'm ok with that. I don't know what Black Ops' story will be like, but if comes straight out and makes it clear that this is not supposed to be historically accurate, that'll be fine too. What would bother me is if the game followed the major events of the Cold War faithfully but then decided "Lol, lets go assassinate Castro because it would be cool" and pretended like that was part of history.

Wait... Castro? Seriously?

Oh, well, that's not incredibly weird.

Alright, it happened in Godfather 2 (game) and there he survived the assassination attempt, but "Death To Dictators"? Woah.

And "Sabotage Soviet Space Programm"? Wow, this sounds cornier than anything MW2 has to offer.

Still, the list's alright, it wouldn't be CoD without veteran achievements.

well this is what COD4/6 have done. At my school I had to do a report on a historical leader. I was marked because I did stalin. I thought he did some bad things ut alot of good as well. much lke hitler. however, I had to take questions at the end. one guy asked "aren't all russians evil?" and half the class agreed. most of them, were COD fans.
Well, it's actually the leftovers of the Cold War, not necessarily Call Of Duty.

In Russia, we have had plenty of propagandist material that put us against the American.

Still, your class is delusional. We aren't exactly nice, but we definitely aren't evil.

Also, their peception of Russians might have been influenced by you, you know, deciding to report on pretty much the worst historical figure of our country (second to Trotsky).

we had to do a leader that was seen as bad. I had the choice of stalin or attila the hun. also, I'm not american. I live in new zealand.
Oh, so, they don't like us in New Zealand now? That's not too good.

Well, you know, if they get influenced by a game so easily, they shouldn't be playing it in the first place because it is for "mature audiences only".

I still can't really blame the developers.

I wonder how much the THIS IS AN OUTRAGE brigade will react to the idea of using a game to kill a real life President/Prime Minister of a sovereign nation.

I mean just look at how they objected to an invasion of Washington D.C.! I'm sure within days we'll be seeing a Fox News segment talking about how it's wrong that we have a murder simulator encouraging the Youth of America to go out and do wrong.

Right?

You won't see anything about it because they're not defacing America's ego, if anything they're bolstering it so everyone will be in love with the game.

"Controversy" only ever appears when there's the smallest sleight on America - one thing I've learned from Hollywood, American media loves to rewrite history to make it seem as the God of the World. Pearl Harbour is my favourite film to reference for this; and because Americans are slave to making their opinions via media, its now taken as historically accurate events.

Are you mad? Its encouraging the youth to stand up against the evils that are socialism, communism and state healthcare. Fox are more likely to have a segment on how come if someone in a computer game can do it, why can't the real US government :)

Minus the clever writing.
I don't know, Treyarch seem better at writing than IW, at least...
Actually, Infinity Ward's writing is miles ahead of Treyarch's. IW knows what they're trying to do with their story: It's loud, it's dumb, it's as if Michael Bay directed a videogame. And in that context it works, pretty damn well too. Treyarch tries to do so much more with it, but unfortunately there's a huge obstacle in the way of their goal - one that almost every other developer faces - they are not very good writers.

interesting, but I have only one thing to say...

Castro, they just couldnt leave him alone, could they

if the achievement is for killing Castro, it pretty much only shows that some north americans are still with the blue balls of never getting to kill him and the existence of comunism in Cuba

though that's just my personal thoughts on the matter

now I just want to know if this will really be "pay to play" or it would be just like another online game
Wait North Americans? Isn't this game mostly done by the Japanese...

Hate to say it show me one person under 50 who cares about Castro...doubt you can.

Sounds to be someone in Japan doesn't know, Castro means as much to Amercians right now than the old left overs mold in their fridge. Most don't even know or care why we still Embargo Cuba...

Wait, wasn't Castro known for holding state sponsored lookalike competitions of himself and then hiring the winners as body doubles?

Now where will the world go to if we no longer have our inexhaustible supply of banana dictator clones?
