Crysis 2 still isn't out for a while and your worrying about this?

I take it you didn't build that rig yourself because its a decent setup, which should be able to run Crysis if not maxed close to max, Crysis 2 is said to be less hardware intensive then the first Crysis.

So homebuilders aren't allowed to have a "decent setup"?
No but homebuilders are usually somewhat knowledgable about what their system can and can't do.

By definition of 'max,' no. That would require DX11.

You can probably run it on high detail at 1920x1200, but if you've got a multidisplay or 2560x1600, then you're not gonna be rocking it. High will probably be the same as Crysis on Maximum.

If you really want to be awesome and stuff, get a 460, a 5870/5850, or one of the 68xx line.

The consoles are really looking nice on this one too. Wait for a tech dissection if you really want to know.

I would say probibly not, gtx 2xx series was pritty much shinyer version of the 9000 series
The GTXs of the 2xx series were new, just not DX11, GT and GTS ones were more like re-brands.

No but if he built himself he should know what it can do. If he built that himself and still doesn't know what it can do he is one very lucky guy.

Either way 200 seiries are kinda old and crappy if your going for max.

The 2xx series was the same G92 chips as the 7/8/9xxx series, and doesn't support DX11.

Ultimately tho, depends on your resolution and what you consider "max". If you can live without AA and run at, oh, 720p, then yeah most likely max. At 1080p with 4xAA, then no I highly doubt it'll run max. Medium, maybe.

The thing is, like people have said, the game isn't out yet nor are any details about it's requirements. While it's expected to be less demanding that Crysis or Warhead, or at least similar, then the 260 will fall flat on it's face at Max or probably even High settings.

It pains me to see people (gamers) buy an i7 with a mediocre GPU... Gaming doesn't need an i7... if you're on a budget, get a good GPU. You know, the thing that limits graphic settings. But anyway... I guess the question's been answered.

The real question is: SHOULD you run Crysis 2 on max settings? D:

Your eyes may grow too accustomed to the far-too-beautiful world it presents, and they will blind themselves whenever you look at our meager reality. Eventually they will reject your stupid ass for NOT looking at the ultra-sexy graphics they have fallen in lust for, and you will wander around the earth, blind for eternity, because you had to see NOMAD's pores.

In all seriousness though, I don't know. I'm not a tech guy. :p

Unlikely. The GTX 260 don't do DirectX 11, which will probably be required for Max (or possibly even High).

I don't trust sites like that ever since they told me I could max out FSX, when the reality is that I can.....if I like 18fps over open ocean!

So, seeing as the OP should be able to run Crysis 2 OK, I take it my Phenom II X6 (2.8), GTX 460 and 4Gb DDR3 should do fine?

No way. High maybe, certainly not max.

Yours will run it much better than the OPs. A 460 is a really nice card. Definitely High settings (my single 5850 was doing High fine in Crysis). Not Very High tho, unless the rumours of a less demanding game are true, however, I'm of the opinion that Crysis 2 will still bring high end rigs to their knees at max detail.
