Could someone please explain Jak and Daxter timeline to me?

Obvious spoilers, duh.

Ok.

At the start of Jak 2, Jak travels forward in time from Sandover vilage, and wakse up in Haven City in the Future. He hears tales of a great hero named 'Mar', who died, and his tomb is in the city. You also meet a young child, who is later revealed to be Jak's younger self.

In Jak 3, you meet a man, who is revealed to be the father of Mar, and then Jak realizes that his younger self who he saw in Jak 2, WAS Mar.

The Mar who's tomb was in the city.

Yep, that's the jist. Jak was born in the era of 2 and 3, son of the king. He was sent back to the Jak 1 era, where he grew up before heading Back to the Future(TM).

I've always thought that there are two different explanations for this.

1) Jak goes back in time at some point in the future and starts Haven.

2) There's a person who lived in the past, possibly one of Jak's descendants, whose name was also Mar.

But what about Samos, and his younger self in Jak 2?

Yep, that's the jist. Jak was born in the era of 2 and 3, son of the king. He was sent back to the Jak 1 era, where he grew up before heading Back to the Future(TM).

Then after the events of 3, grown up Jak went back to found Haven as Mar the way I understand it.

Have you even played the games? Young Samos went WITH Jak to the past, and both of them eventually grew into their future selves, aka the cast of Jak and Daxter; Precursor Legacy, who in turn went to the future at the start of the second game.

Yup, thats pretty much it.

1. Jak was born in Haven
2. Jak was sent back in time to grow up in the past
3. Jak returned now grown up to save Haven
4. It's currently presumed he goes back in time again (but not as far) to found Haven

Its nice to have a game that involves time travel but isn't a core mechanic so theres no paradoxical bullshit to shove the brain though a wringer.
