Could someone tell me why it does this?

So for the past few months, my PC copy of TF2 will randomly go to the desktop maybe one every 3 start ups and takes about a minute or so to go back to the game. I have no idea why it does this and how I could fix it. So please, is anyone able to help me figure this out?

Do not call the Geek Squad. It's almost certainly a video card issue, but I couldn't say for certain without checking it out.

Pretty sure why hes asking the escapist.

It could be an error with the start up through steam. Uninstall it and then reinstall it. Try it then.

Also, is it possible you keep accidentally hitting your windows key?

I've done that, and checked the Can You Run This site. It says I need either NVIDIA GeForce 7900+ or ATI Radeon X1900+. I currently have Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family. When I check to see if they're compatible, it says that they aren't and I should go to Intel's site, but they don't have anything that could work.

None of the above. If the game is not crashing (as in you can ALT+TAB back to it) then something is switching focus from the game back to the desktop, or more likely something that is running in the background.

Either you installed or updated something right before it happened, or you got yourself some malware.

As for the lot of you why even bother posting when you obviously have no clue what the problem could be or where to start troubleshooting it. You just clutter up the thread with pointless banter and dumb jokes.

This is off topic, but I did that at least 9001 times during all my Diablo 2 playthroughs aiming for the alt key.

i'm quite sure it's your video card than. just a fragment problem. if there was an update from the distributor of the game that you cannot take back (i.e. steam) than it will have a conflicting issue. either the next update for the chipset, or the game will fix it. until then, just consider it a minor annoyance. I had games where this happened. i know it's a video card dispute.

I have a cousin who happens to be agood at computer tech. Thankfully, as I don't know the difference between RAM and gigabytes.

So usually, I just call people who know what in the Hell is happening to my blasted machine in the first place. Otherwise I shout curse words and smack it about until it obeys my organic demands, no matter how frivolous.
