Why are people holding Kurt up as something sacred? He was just a musician who had issues. He's dead and effectively a brand now, if they bought the rights he could be selling McDonalds tomorrow.
Most of the fans who piss and whine about it were probably around 6 years old when Kurt died.
13 actually, but I get your point.
No, he is not some sacred cow or anything, and the music he helped found was just as bought/sold/paid for as every other corporate media being marketed.
Its not like they have his image taking part in animal porn. Hes performing music, much as he did to earn a living in life. I don't care if hes perfoming solja boy in game. He's dead, this is fantasy.
Courtney can't spell her own fucking name, are you telling me she understands the contract better than Activisions legal team? she talks about Activisions reputation but she still "sold" Kurt to Activision. That says everything about how she feels about Kurt and his legacy. Its a cash cow.
The difference is, it's still respect for the dead....or disrespect in this case. As far as I know, the Beatles are only playing their music on Rockband, we aren't going to hear them attempt to sing Linkin Park or System of a Down. So why have (the image of) Kurt sing along with songs not only outside of his respective genre of music, but so FAR outside of his genre or music?
Now I could be completely wrong in thinking Courtney didn't sell the rights to Activision. Hell, she probably did based off of them telling her they'd do a "respectful" treatment of the artist.....those clips weren't respectful at all.
And yeah, if they used him or any other dead artist to promote McDonalds, that would piss me off.
