First of all, this is my first post on this forum,so pretty much...Hello!
I created my account on the forums, mainly for this post idea. Now,this might have been brought up before, but i just thought it would be a good topic to debate on.At this point you are probably wondering wtf am i brambling about,or who the fuck is Nostalgia Critic, but just hear me out.
I don`t know how many of you are a fan of both of the critics: Doug Walker(a.k.a the Nostalgia Critic) or Ben Croshaw( a.k.a Yahtzee),but if u don't already know,Nostalgia Critic is a famous movie critic who mainly reviews older movies. He posts his reviews on
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic ,while Ben Croshaw ( Yahtzee ),well no need to introduce him here i guess :)
Let's take a moment and look at the big picture

Yea,i know the similarities are pretty fucking mind blowing:the beard, the moustache, the glasses, the cap,but they are both very smart, intelligent, funny persons, who at the same time share different personalities.

Regarding the criticism, they both like to do one thing, and they do it pretty often and pretty damn good: destroy video-games/movies with their incredible critic skills. In this manner, most of the things get demolished to the ground with criticism, rarely getting a good reception.About their sense of humor,i'd say Yahtzee's dead serious attitude in all of his videos give him a distinct ,iconic personality, while NC's humor is rather filled with plain irony.
We could say that the overall feeling they tend to offer is different ,mainly because they represent 2 rather stereotipical type of humor: british and american, but i can say that i enjoy both of them alot.
I enjoy both of their shows, and i really appreciate the things i have learned from their videos, aswell as i appreciate the good time i had watching them(how many times did i had to clean the spit on my lcd monitor, that got there because i laughed to enthusiastically at Yahtzee's videos)
I'd say that if u like movies and you also like Yahtzee's ZeroPunctuation, but at the same time you have no clue on who Nostalgia Critic is...(you kinda suck if u fit this description),you will absolutely love Doug's reviews and you should absolutely go and check them out.

I kinda had more ideas when i started, but i kinda lost them on the way...yea kinda sucks, but still.. :D

I'd like to see more opinions regarding the comparison of these 2 amazing critics that the...world...erm no...the history.....no this doesn't quite fit.....internet(brilliant!) has gave us.
P.S.: This is my first post on this forums,so i am really sorry if i broke the rules.
P.P.S: Sorry for the terrible english.
P.P.P.S:I have started a similar thread on the nostalgiacritic forums about the 2 critics, hoping to get the people there get to know Yahtzee better,so go check it out:

I don't really know what this thread is here to accomplish? You are very good at describing how they are similar, but the thread doesn't have any discussion value. You should try asking some questions, like:
Who has the more interesting review style?
How would each of them do attempting to simulate the other's reviews?

And welcome to the Escapist, hope you have fun here. [Insert basement reference here]

I like both? I mean, yeah they are similar in many ways but they're soooo far apart in reality. Yeah they're cynical and all, but the Nostalgia Critic is a film reviewer, he reviews things often in live action, he mostly reviews bad films and his reviews are, well. . . More like actual reviews.

Don't get me wrong I love our Yahtzee but you watch him for entertainment since he tears apart a new release every single week. If you only bought games Yahtzee reccommended then your library would be pretty thin. The NC on the other hand is the kind of guy where you flick through his videos and say 'oh yeah I remember that film!' and then watch him rip it to shreds. So yeah I know what you're saying, but they're not THAT similar

It's just that they are both very smart and interesting people and i just have this strange desire to be able to put both of them in the same room and see what happens, what they talk about and stuff.I know it sounds stupid as both are after all just human beings, but i hope you get the idea...

Bardikus, thanks for educating us. I don't know about anyone else on here, but Yahtzee doesn't have such reprehensible fanboys, that's not taking into account that he has talent of some degree.

All NC does is follow a formula. Introduction, explain the movie, exaggerate the negative, get angry, get Dino-Rob/Dr Insano/Linkara into the review, squeak, whine, then finish with a fan-service sketch.

It's less apples and oranges and more like apples and dog food.
