I will trust critis but they need to earn that trust from me first.

I know theres a lot of bribery that goes on with this kind of thing, especially when it comes to games so I never trust "review companies" like IGN.

As countless people before me have said, it's a matter of finding critics you more or less have similar tastes in.
My taste seems to coincide with Bob's most of the time and I've also found some of Roger Ebert's film reviews useful, particularly the Great Films list, lots of awesome stuff there.

And I'm sort of a film buff - I have seen a great many films, though I'm not a critic and I'm not aspiring to be one... so I just basically don't watch what I doubt I'll enjoy.
Edit: No, that last sentence is incorrect. I only don't give films that I KNOW I won't like a chance.

I never agree with the movie reviews in my TV guide magazine. They seem to heavily favour foreign films and slam anything is just trying to be stupid fun.

I usually don't take it to heart unless they give several reasons why it should be avoided like the plague. I like listening to critics after I've viewed the movie/game myself, it usually makes good food for thought (or if I hated it, it's satisfying to know someone tore it to shreads for me).
