Croteam Interested in Serious Sam HD on PS3, But Are You?

Serious Sam HD is coming to the PlayStation 3 [http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/catalog.aspx?d=6] owners are going to miss out unless they make some noise about wanting it - and are willing to wait for it.

A PlayStation version of the forthcoming Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD, announced for the PC and Xbox Live Arcade PlayStation Network [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/92699-Serious-Sam-Coming-to-Xbox-Live-Arcade] release several months after the game had debuted on the PC and XBLA was unenthusiastic.

"We [have considered] doing PSN after we finish PC and XBLA," he told G4tv.com [http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/696954/Serious-Sam-HD-Could-Hit-PlayStation-3-Later-But-Croteam-Asks-Would-You-Buy-It.html]. "However, we keep hearing over and over from publishers, investors, marketing and other suits that players from one console, in this case PSN, wouldn't want to get it later, let's say eight months and seven days after, if it's released sooner on the other console, here that would be XBLA. I would normally say that's a lot of bull, but I will refrain here from my comment."

But he implied that despite what the "suits" think, a PSN version could still happen if there's sufficient demand for it. "It would feel perfect to have it on PSN as well," he said. "However, we are a garage team of 20 people, although with a larger garage now, working on Serious Sam HD for PC and XBLA platforms. Along [with] that, we are developing Serious Sam 3 and Serious Engine 3 tech for both platforms."

And, he noted, any PlayStation release would have to wait until after the game was launched on the other platforms."I know we are good, but we are not that good to add PSN and finish at the same time," he added. "Just kidding, we are that good, but we are not supermen."

So what about it, PlayStation fans? Is it worth Croteam's time to bring this seriously awesome shooter to your platform of choice, or is two out of three good enough? Let us - and them [http://www.croteam.com/] - know what you think!

Pass.

I played this way back on the PC and it was some serious fun but there are already too many PSN titles worth buying now, I doubt it would do well.

Did you happen to read the article? It's not coming out now, if it does. It will come out later, if it does.

Also, passing on choice? For serious broseph?

Yep, I read it. I doubt it would do well on the PSN, so they shouldn't spend that kind of effort producing and porting it. I won't be shouting out for it, that's all I'm saying.

I don't have a PS3, but I'll simply say: the more the merrier. Let those PS3 owners enjoy it as well, I'll just get it off Xbox Live Arcade. Never had a chance to play this, would love to.

Bull-fucking-shit!
I want this game on the PS3! What do they think us PS3 owners are a bunch of tightwads?
Edit: Why not release it on the PS3? The more the merrier, plus maybe, just maybe they might make some good money.
Last time I checked Wolfenstein 3D was one of the top sellers on the PS3. Serious Sam will be different I suppose. Those 'suits' should get their facts sorted out.

I hated the game so i don't care, the models look like shit just like the majority of models from early 90's full 3D games.

I would take good looking sprites over shitty looking 3D models any day.
But... But... Fun gameplay! Good story! Both of these things are more important than graphics, and Serious Sam has them.

Also, it's an HD remake, so your argument makes no sense. I say Serious Sam for the PS3!

This is seriously, like, awesome, maybe? I have seriously not played the Serious Sam games so I'm seriously anxious to see if I can seriously, like, seriously, play the games that people have been so serious about.

Seriously.

(ho ho, more puns from the ever clever bever Jumplion)

By "remake" they probably mean a HD version of the same game with some nice little visual improvements. I really doubt they will actually create new models for the game.
Serious Sam HD uses Croteam's new Engine, Serious Engine 3. New models and all I gather. Seriously (the site) has a forum up about it with questions asked / answered / unanswered. Looks like fun to me, but I loved the original.
