Meh, who needs graphics.
If you ask me they're the least important factor of a game
True, Graphics are just icing on the cake. But when you have an already kickass cake, and the icing is made of win, you've got an explosion of cakey goodness waiting to happen. And if the Dev tools for this engine can make making games easier, and cheaper, gaming as a whole will improve drastically.

Also, what I want to know is what is the tech running that demo? Yeah it looks stunning, but I'd be REALLY impressed with the engine if you could get visuals like that on mid-range cards and processors.

I'm more excited about the procedural destruction and physics. Awesome stuff! Can't wait till the next gen of consoles to really push stuff like this.

That is awesome.

To bad it would absolutely murder my computer.
Why? If your PC can run most of the multi-platform games (Prototype or Fallout 3 come to mind), you should have no problems with CryEngine 3.

Sure, it will look the best on a high-end monster PC, but we regular schmoes will also get to see some nice stuff.
But the thing was you could barely even run the last engine on a well indoubt computer. This looks like it would murder it. Although it showed an xbox 360 logo.

Very very attractive, though I still keep asking myself:

Why aren't we satisfied with what we have?

I know that I'm quite happy with the current graphics...

No... words... should've sent... a poet.
I can already hear my computer whimpering, "Please, for the love of almighty God in heaven, don't make me try it..."

Running Crysis isn't actually that hard at 1080p everything on medium

I just heard the voices of a million processors cry out in pain then suddenly silenced.

On a more serious note, I really can't tell the difference between that and the CryEngine 2 apart from the improved physics and destructability of solid walls.

during those big zoom-outs, there was some troubles with the water and such.

i cant say im incredibly impressed. only the destroy walls stuff made me drool. Killzone 2 or Demon´s Souls still looked better to me.

Any mid-end PC is more powerful than an Xbox and almost equal (in terms of raw power) to PS3.

I can run Prototype, one of the most fast-paced games ever ported to PCs, in 1680x1050, full details and V-Sync (I MUST run in V-Sync, or I get stutterings - weird, but common porting bug). Same with Fallout 3. In fact, there were tests that proved that PC graphics (even not modified by users) are superior to Xbox 360 and equal to PS3.

That was almost a year ago. When Crysis 2 or the first game to use the new engine is released, anyone should be able to run it. Crysis 1 was a wake-up call for a lot of people, even for me.

From this trailer we learned that:
The consoles will have no AA, no Vsync, run at 720p, tiny draw distance, run at 20 fps, slow updating shadow maps, no normal maps, no motion blur, poor textures and clunky aiming.

I don't see any reason for anybody to buy it for a console other then being an idiot or a masochist. And if anybody brings up "gaming pcs cost millions of dollars" again i will bash their head in with a rig that costs $300 and runs the previous game at high/very high with AA turned on.

My computer is fairly new and high-quality, and I can't even play Fable on it.
Then guess what? It is not new or high quality.

I really hope we achieve photo realistic graphics so that we can finally focus on other aspects of a game -_-

My pc feels fat and inadequate btw. Although I can run most of the new games on highest settings.
