First off I'd like to say hello to everyone, this is my first post on The Escapist forums (Although I'm a long time viewer).
I don't know if this game has been discussed here recently. If it has, sorry for tearing up old wounds.
I'd like your thoughts on the game, and constructive criticism to my own.
-------
When I first played Crysis I was hooked from minute one. I was so immersed in the game that I frequently had to dislodge my eyes from the screen and make sure I wasn't shot when emerging from a long gunfight.
Like Yahtzee I shush my inner critic due to the amazing graphics and my personal immersive experience.
Crysis was awesome.
My one wish after completing the first installment was to immediatly play the second, but because that was two days after the release I've had to suffer severe withdrawal effects and multiple Delta-mode experimental sessions, until recently.
Crysis Warhead was all I had been longing for. New interesting challenges such as the trainride and icy parts.
Then along comes the worst 10 minutes of my life, the 10 last minutes of the game.
For you who thought I was going to go on about design and immersion and joy for another 1000 words like the usual fanboy, you're wrong. The following events overshadow whatever love I held for all of that.
I had been expecting the game to go on for another 6 hours until O'Neill broke radio silence and spell by revealing there was this huge manly destroy-everything PAX gun just ahead of me. A sickening feeling of impending doom filled my heart and soul when I realised that the last time I was given such a thing was just before the final boss in the previous game.
I sadly prepared to see the game end prematurely and thought "Oh well, atleast there's the explosive finale coming up, sure to be entertaining. And I can enjoy myself with playing the game over and over in different ways".
5 minutes later I had killed a boss that did absolutely nothing more than to appear behind a corner, flex his legs a bit and die. I saw guns on it, but they could have been hood ornaments for all the firepower they had the chance to dish out. These hyper advanced aliens apparently havent invented gunturrets that can turn 380 degrees yet. I circled the guy putting round after round in him, and all he did was to act confused and show of the aliens national dance routine.
After that I was almost relieved because I couldn't imagine that being the final boss. I ran to the V-TOL and looked forward to the flying part of the game.
Then I ate end credits.
