Daredevil Season 2 Trailer Teases Elektra, The Punisher

"Bang."

And with that lone, morally-ambiguous word, Jon Bernthal announces his entry into the Marvel Universe in season two of Netflix's Daredevil.

On the heels of a critically-acclaimed first season, it seems that Daredevil will be pulling out all the stops the second time around. In addition to former Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal's much-anticipated turn as The Punisher, Elodie Yung will also be joining the cast that includes Charlie Cox, Rosario Dawson, and Elden Henson. Yung will take the role of Elektra, the ninja assassin originally played by Jennifer Garner in the 2005 box office bomb.

But fret not, for Daredevil executive producer Jeph Loeb promised that Yung and Cox would "bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for."

Let's hope this "tumultuous relationship" involves plenty of sai-play.

We may only get brief glimpses of both Elektra and The Punisher in the teaser trailer for the second season of Daredevil, which was released by Marvel and Netflix at their New York Comic-Con panel over the weekend, but they are certainly enough to leave a lasting impression. Bernthal's Punisher, for instance, appears to be walking through a hospital with a machine gun, which means he is either about to fulfill the most twisted Make-A-Wish request ever or dole out some wholly over-the-top street justice.

Daredevil Season 2 drops "sometime" in 2016. Get hype, you guys.

It's more of an teaser since most of it was just season 1 recape and the ending is teasing the new characters. Either way, I'm hyped up for it and I will be definitely watched it from the start (I was a late comer when it first aired)!

So who ripped who off?

Gotham ripped off Daredevil or Daredevil ripped of Gotham?
And now that I think about it, doesn't Arrow have the same plot line at the moment?

"This city has to die in order for it to be reborn"

I swear I've heard it before somewhere in either Gotham or Arrow.

Sure they're probally all ripping off 2000AD some how... but tbh Daredevil > all other comicbook TV shows!

This can only be good! anything else and i will make crying nosies on the internet like a good fanboy.

I'm just confused on the matter as to how 3 competing shows got into such a similar plotline all at once.

Believe it or not, but it's the 3rd time's Arrow does that plot. To answer the question: They're all ripping off Batman Begins.

Actually now that you mention it I totally forgot about Season 1 where they tried that.

It's nice that they're teasing it, but I've already seen season 1, so that footage is far less exciting.

It's a common plot in comic books?

The first season of this was pretty good, but the Netflix level of production values really shows in the fighting choreography. Supposedly Marvel anted up 200 million dollars for this show and the others that it's putting together with Netflix, so 200 mil over 60 episodes, but I have a hard time believing that they are actually spending that money equally since shows like the Walking Dead cost less than 3 million an episode to produce. But then again, maybe Marvel is just bad with their money and production costs - after all the Agents of SHIELD pilot supposedly cost them 14 million...

Anyway, it's not like I didn't enjoy the first season of Daredevil, it's just that I really do feel like "something" is missing. Maybe it's more that it feels uneven - like the parts that are law/crime procedural are better done than the parts that are "super hero beating up bad guys". Clearly the strength of this show isn't in it's action sequences, which for the genre it's in is kind of a let down.
