I just finished the dawnguard DLC in the vampire lord arc and found it just... Lacking. I mean you kill Lord Harkon then nothing happened. The Elder Scroll of Sun dictated a new Dread Lord will rise when no such thing has happened. In fact not so much as a mention as to what a Dread Lord is!

For all the Hype it really was just anti-climatic and even if you give Harkon Aureil's Bow nothing happens and you kill him anyway. So escapist your thoughts?

Well, let's face it, the previous "Dread Lord", Harkon, wasn't exactly the most active fellow anyway. You're basically him with less assholery (hopefully) and more badassery.

BTW, off-topic... in videos of vampire runs, I see the alert that the sun boils your blood and whatnot. Can anyone provide details on what exactly this boiling of the blood means in terms of gameplay? It may really affect whether I go Vampire Lord and whatnot.

It means that when in the sun you cannot regenerate Health, Magicka or Stamina which is vital it you want to use the Vampire Lord's Magical Attack however you are able to revert from Vampire Lord to Normal then Vampire Lord to Normal etc.

One of the biggest points in the Elder Scrolls mythos is that all prophecies made by the Elder Scrolls are uncertain, and can be denied.

The Dragonborn was never destined to win against Alduin.
The Champion of Cyrodiil was never destined to help Martin win against Dagon.
The Nerevarine was never destined to win against Dagoth-Ur.

They were only destined to try, the ES may have predicted a new Dread Lord, but destiny can be denied through the will of mortals.

Also if you payed attention to the story, they specifically stated that prophecy was made up by some guy in the past. It was lie from the beginning.

I killed the fucking EMPEROR and nothing seems to have changed, don't care about some stupid Vampire.

Yeah, the events have barely any change on what's going on.
Killing the emperor would have changed nothing.

seriously it seems to me like people couldn't figure out the logical reactions to their actions if they had a map.

If that is true then you shouldn't even be able to corrupt the bow because he never stated that was what he was going was stop Auriel's influence on the world but not corrupt the sun so how do you explain that then?

you tried corrupting the sun?it's pretty cool.
Yeah, it's fun, but not on a cloudy day when you can't even find the buggering thing.
That's where the Clear Skies shout comes in. You can be in the middle of a thunderstorm, use that shout and less than a minute later there won't be a cloud in the sky.

There is no magicks that prevent the corruption of the bow into a weapon that could block out the sun.
